In this study, 400 day-old straight-run Cobb 500 broiler chicks sourced from a commercial hatchery were randomly allotted to treatment following a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). We investigated the forage potential of 12 Salsola species including S. arbuscula, S. abarghuensis, S. dendroides, S. crassa, S. imbricata, S. incanescens, S. nitraria, S. kerneri, S. orientalis, S. richteri, S. tomentosa, and S. yazdiana in the Southern rangelands of the Great Salt Desert. The results showed a great significant variation among forage quality and quantity of the Salsola species. Growth study was conducted to study the effect of emulsifier in low energy diets containing rice bran oil as fat source in the growth performance of commercial broiler chicken. The results showed that there was no significant difference in the levels of metabolizable energy in the breeds of chickens used in the study. However, significant level of metabolizable energy effects were observed on final bodyweight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, performances index, breast meat yield, abdominal fat yield, crude fat content of breast muscle and inorganic matter content of breast muscle.
