In this study, metal cations exchange and adsorption processes onto kaolinite surfaces are investigated using first-principles calculations. Obtained results indicate that the exchanges of cations are mostly unfavorable, and the Al sites are conveniently replaced compared to Si sites.

In this study, the adsorption of methane (CH4) capacities onto natural mordenite obtained from ˙Izmir, Turkey, and its cationic forms (CuM, AgM, FeM, and HM samples) were investigated at the temperatures of 0 and 25 ◦ C up to 100 kPa. Natural and modified samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), thermogravimetry (TG-DTG), differential thermal analysis (DTA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with energy dispersion spectroscopy (EDS), and N2 adsorption methods.

Effluent borne heavy metals in soil ecosystem can result into phytotoxic levels impair plant growth. Long-term accumulation of toxic metals in soils and their uptake by crop plants has a high potential for phytotoxicity besides entering into the food chain. Soils in both the districts were slightly acidic to neutral. The cation exchange capacity (CEC) was highest in maize wheat production system and least in pasture system in soils of district Samba, and whereas least was observed in rice wheat system in soils of Kathua.

The sodium cations of 13X zeolite were replaced by Zn2+, Co2+, Ni2+ and Cu2+ cations contained in the various concentration of nitrate salts solutions. XRD and SEM analysis shows that the cationic exchange process is accompanied by a textural damage for the cation-exchanged 13X zeolites, especially, in the case of Ni2+ and Cu2+-exchanged 13X zeolites.
