Cobalt (Co) Metal plays an increasingly important role in the battery and engine manufacturing industry for electric cars. Previously most of Co was mined as by-productin copper ore deposits in Central Africa. Recently, the proportion of Co extracted fromother sources such as weathering-derived mines on ultramafic rocks is increasing.

For more than five decades, dithizone has been widely used as an analytical reagent. This ligand forms strongly colored complexes with metal ions and this ability to form complexes can be used for extraction/removal of certain metal ions in addition to analytical determination. In static mode, the supercritical carbon dioxide extraction of copper and lead ions from aqueous solutions after complexation by the dithizone ligand is studied (at two different conditions: a) p = 120 bar, T = 30 °C, and b) p = 72 bar, T = 50 °C).

It is very important to develop a process for selectively extracting Zr(IV) ions from the solution medium to produce zirconium metal used in industry and nuclear reactors. In this study, the parameters affecting the extraction of Zr(IV) ions were investigated using a multidropped liquid membrane (MDLM) system. Trioctyl amine (TOA) dissolved in kerosene was used as a carrier ligand in the extraction of Zr(IV) ions by the MDLM technique.

This paper introduces a method for estimating the maximum depth (sub-millimeter) of minor cracks on the surface of aluminum plates used in the aeronautical industry. A set of C-scan eddy current (EC) images, including real and imaginary parts of the impedance, is analyzed to extract suitable features after reducing noise effects, such as background noises and edge noises.

Lithium (Li) is the lightest metal, has unique physicochemical properties and is the main component of lithium-ion batteries. Rechargeable lithium-ion batteries play a very important role in maximizing the performance of electric devices and vehicles. It is predicted that the metal and mineral demand for lithium-ion batteries will increase 56 times by 2050. In order to meet the increasing demand, in addition to known methods, lithium recovery from geothermal waters has become a very popular research subject.

On the basis of slope analysis, the compositions of the extracted species were formulated as Pr(NO3)3.2Cyanex 921 and Pr(NO3)3.Cyanex 923. The percentage of extraction of Pr(III) was found to decrease with increases in temperature. The standard enthalpy and entropy changes were negative owing to the complexation with decrease in randomness without a compensatory disruption of the hydration sphere of the metal ion. Mineral acids like hydrochloric acid (0.008 M) and sulfuric acid (0.03/0.02 M) were effective for the stripping of Pr(III) from the loaded organic phase with 0.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of 3 new polymers obtained by functionalization of a commercial poly(vinyl chloride) by grafting amino-alkyl and amino-aryl groups to extract some metal cations from aqueous solutions. A kinetic study of the extraction shows that the optimal duration of extraction was obtained with the polymer that has more chlorine atoms substituted by diethylenetriamine groups. The influence of metal extraction on the infrared spectra, differential scanning calorimetry diagrams, and X-ray diffraction of metal-loaded polymers was also studied.

This article describes the synthesis, characterization, and metal ion binding properties of a new macrobicyclic ligand. Solvent extraction experiments were performed in order to determine the extraction behavior of new macrobicyclic ligand towards selected metal cations. Selective extraction of heavy metals and precious metals is highly demanded due to their toxicity and commercial importance.

This paper describes the synthesis of a series of metal-free phthalocyanines and metallophthalocyanines peripherally substituted by macrocycles of different ring sizes with the same donor atom sets. The effects of varying ring size of the macrocycle on the spectroscopic and metal ion binding properties of phthalocyanines were examined. For these purposes, electronic absorption properties for metal-free phthalocyanines and metallophthalocyanines were studied in dimethylformamide and tetrahydrofuran.
