Quantitative precipitation estimation (QPE) product has been operationally calculated by combining radar and selected rain gauge data. Methods to distinguish qualified rain-gauge data from poor-qualified rain-gauge data were introduced. Precipitation guidance was developed and tested in several heavy rain cases.

We developed a prototype system of the very short-range forecast of precipitation in Vietnam by merging kinematic extrapolations of composite hourly rainfall analysis and NWP, verified its performance for the case of a heavy rainfall event in July 2021 over central Vietnam. First, we produced hourly composite rainfall analysis over Vietnam with a grid distance of 5 km using AWS, radar, and satellite data.

The system is designed with two servers connected in a cluster, so it has high stability. Alerts are delivered to users quickly using push notification technology, suitable for personal computers and iOS and Android mobile devices. The system is in line with the trend of Vietnamese people using mobile devices to monitor weather information today. Therefore, this will be an effective source of extreme weather warnings that VNMHA can use.

This study aimed to assess the perception of H'mong farmers in the northwest mountainous region on climate change, its impacts on crop production, and their adaptation strategies. Reports on natural disaster events and their damages for the period ranging from 2012- 2021, together with meteorological data including daily temperature and precipitation for 1991-2021, were collected.

In Vietnam, the study of data assimilation has also been applied in the meteorology and has attracted the increasing interest in oceanography. This paper presents the results of the study to calculate the wave height data from satellites combined with measured wave height data at MSP1 station of Vietsovpetro using the Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF) method associated with SWAN wave model in the Eastern Vietnam Sea.

The aim of this study is to compare the bioclimatic comfort conditions of Uşak city between 1990 and 2018. In the first stage, the bioclimatic comfort conditions of the city centre between 1990 and 2018 were determined according to the Physiological Equivalent Temperature (PET) index obtained from the RayMan model by using hourly data of the meteorological station in the city centre; air temperature (°C), relative humidity (%), wind velocity(m/s) and cloudiness (octa).

PM2.5 is the particulate matter with aerodynamic diameter of 2.5 µm or less, which is the root cause of haze event. Although there is no detailed standard for haze episode, haze is generally defined as a phenomenon characterized by visibility of ~8km, high concentration of particulate matter, relative humidity of less than 90%, following by certain weather conditions of very low wind speed of < 1 m/s and suppressed planetary boundary layer height.

This paper will review the existing popular mathematical models available to predict sediment flow to a reservoir. The study shows that existing models can successfully simulate reservoir sedimentation, however, each model has limitations and depending on the problem scope and complexity and data availability they require good understanding and judgment to choose an appropriate model.

Mustards occupy an important place among oilseed species due to their considerable economic and nutritional value and multiple uses. This study made use of 77 mustard genotypes collected from the USDA gene bank and diverse ecologies of Turkey to determine the extent of morphologic variability among them. The genotypes were screened to select genotypes appropriate for use in mustard breeding programs during 2015–16 and 2016–17 under the Mediterranean rainfed conditions of Yenimahalle (spring sowing and autumn sowing) and Haymana (spring sowing).

The methodology for determining changes of altitude, elevation velocity, and reflection coefficient of the elevated inversion layer in the troposphere is examined based on the results of observation of VHF signals on over-the-horizon (OTH) routes. Estimations of the elevation velocity and reflection coefficient of the elevated inversion layers on the results of measuring of the levels of VHF signals in the zone of the near geometric shadow in the middle latitudes and the meteorological sounding data using balloons are obtained.

Typhoon-induced disasters including storm surge and high wave are obvious threats to coastal areas in Vietnam. Thus, many researchers have paid their attention to this issue. The approaching methods are varied, including statistical methods and also numerical methods. This study suggests the coupled models Delft3D-FLOW and WAVE, using the meteorological output data from the Weather Research Forecast (WRF) for investigating the typhoon induced disasters in the coastal areas in Viet Nam.

Wind energy potentials of some selected high altitude and coastal areas in Nigeria are assessed for possible utilization for the generation of electricity. The main aim is to provide pragmatic insight that will enhance the investment in wind energy conversion systems in an optimal manner. The data used in this present study were obtained from the Nigeria Meteorological Agency, which includes average wind speeds per day of four locations across the country, measured at the anemometer height of 10 m over a period of 11 years.
