The synthesis of fluorescent carbon quantum dots (CQDs) and their applications have attracted great attention due to their excellent properties. Especially, the unique visible-light absorption and photo-induced electron transfer properties make CQDs available in photocatalytic degradation of organic dye pollutants in water resources. Herein, we synthesized nondoped CQDs and boron-doped CQDs (B-CQDs) by hydrothermal method and compared their photocatalytic degradation activity of methylene blue (MB) and methyl red (MR) dyes under visible light irradiation.

In this study, electrochemical behaviors of formazans were investigated. The compounds contained CH3 and OCH3 groups at the o-, m-, and p-positions of the 1-phenyl ring and an OCH3 group at the p-position of the 3-phenyl ring. Their electrochemical behaviors, such as the number of electrons transferred, diffusion coefficients, and heterogeneous rate constants, were studied by cyclic voltammetry, ultramicrodisk electrode, and chronoamperometry. Possible mechanisms were proposed based upon the data obtained.

We hereby report a new method for preparation of 3,4-dihydroquinolin-2(2H) -one starting from the methyl 2-(2-carboxyethyl)benzoic acid. The acid functionality, adjacent to the methylene, was regiospecifically converted to the desired methyl ester and the remaining acid functionality was transferred into acyl azide. Curtius rearrangement of acyl azide followed by trapping with aniline and alcohols provided the corresponding urea and urethane derivatives.

Atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of styrene was carried out with multidentate nitrogenbased ligands, namely N,N’-bis[phenyl(pyrid-2-yl)methylene] ethane-1,2-diamine (BPDA) and N,N’-bis[methyl(pyrid2-yl)methylene] ethane-1,2-diamine (BMDA), and catalyst systems at catalyst/ligand molar ratios of 1/0.33, 1/0.5, 1/1, and 1/1.5 by using 2 different initiators, (1-bromoethyl)benzene (BEB) and ethyl-2-bromopropionate (EBP). Linear first-order kinetic plots were observed for ATRP of styrene upon using BPDA as a ligand with both initiators.

This study demonstrated the kinetics of nucleophilic substitution reactions of butyl methyl chlorophosphate (2) with X-anilines (XC6H4NH2) and deuterated X-anilines (XC6H4ND2) in MeCN at 55.0 ± 0.1°C together with the general optimized method for the synthesis of 2 under mild conditions. Different spectroscopic characterizations revealed the formation of 2 with high purity. The free energy relationship with the substituents X in the anilines exhibited biphasic concavity upwards with a break point at X = H, which induced large negative ρX and small positive βX values.

Starting from a chiral secondary alcohol, novel enantiopure 1,4-aminoalkylphenols (AAPs) were prepared by exploiting conventional organic transformations such as the Mitsunobu reaction, Eschweiler–Clarke N -methylation, and demethylation of anisoles. The catalytic activity of the 1,4-AAPs was investigated in enantioselective Et2Zn addition to benzaldehyde. They were found to accelerate the Et2Zn addition to benzaldehyde. High yields and enantioselectivities (e.g., 95% yield and 82% ee) were achieved.

A phthalocyanine (Pc) initiator, tetrakis(2-bromopropyloxyester)ethylthiophthalocyaninatozinc(II) (ZnPcBr), was prepared and successfully applied to atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) of methyl methacrylate (MMA) for the first time. Bromine end groups of the synthesized Pc took part in the initiation of the MMA chain growth. Polymerization was demonstrated by monomodal molecular weight distribution of the synthesized polymers and their increasing molecular weight behavior with reaction time.

Nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT), a key cytoplasmic protein in the human body, is accountable to catalyze the nicotinamide (NCA) N1 -methylation through S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAM) as a methyl donor, which has been linked to many diseases. Although extensive studies have concerned about the biological aspect, the detailed mechanism study of the enzyme function, especially in the part of protein dynamics is lacking.

O-methyltransferases (OMTs) are an important group of enzymes that catalyze the transfer of a methyl group from S-adenosyl-L-methionine to their acceptor substrates. OMTs are divided into several groups according to their structural features. In Gossypium species, they are involved in phenolics and flavonoid pathways.

In this study, we attempted to apply a four-arm star poly(methyl methacrylate) (4sPMMA) as a prepolymer of acrylic bone cement. The 4sPMMA with viscosity average molecular weight of about 45 kDa was synthesized via Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization method using Activators Regenerated by Electron Transfer (ARGET ATRP). In practical use, the fine powder of precipitated 4sPMMA was changed to rigid beads followed by making sheet and pulverizing.

The aim of this study is to prepare 18F-NaF radiopharmaceutical using a home-made automatic synthesis module consisting of hardware and software which was made by a researcherteam of Hanoi Irradiation Center, HIC, Hanoi, Vietnam. Fluorine-18 isotopes produced in cyclotron KOTRON13 were transferred to the module and radioactive cation impurities were first removed by cation exchange on a carboxymethyl cation exchange (CM) cartridge, and then 18F - ion were trapped by a quaternary methyl ammonium anion exchange (QMA) cartridge.

DNA methylation (DNAm) is an epigenetic regulator of gene expression programs that can be altered by environmental exposures, aging, and in pathogenesis. Traditional analyses that associate DNAm alterations with phenotypes suffer from multiple hypothesis testing and multi-collinearity due to the high-dimensional, continuous, interacting and non-linear nature of the data.

Posttranslational protein modifications are known to modulate key biological processes like proliferation and apoptosis. Accumulating evidence shows that ST6GAL1, an enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of sialic acid onto galactose-containing substrates, is aberrantly expressed in various cancers and may affect cell motility and invasion.

In this research, a novel organic photocatalyst of 10-(perylene-3-yl-10H-phenoxazine (PHP) has been successfully synthesized from perylene and phenoxazine via Buchwald-Hartwig C-N coupling. The chemical structure of catalyst was determined via FT-IR, proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1 H-NMR) spectrum and optical properties were investigated through UV-Vis spectroscopy. The PHP has been used as the reducing photoredox catalyst for organocatalyzed atom transfer radical polymerrization (O-ATRP) under UV irradiation.
