The functioning of these enzymes is affected significantly due to Zn deficiency and there will be a retarded growth and productivity of plants. Deficiency of Zn is a universal problem among cereal crops. The concentration of Zn varies from 6-1.2 mg/kg in various soils, whereas its concentration reaches 20-300 ppm in plants. Zn deficiency leads to chlorosis in the leaves of plants.

Camphor is widely used in pharmacy, the food industry, and cosmetics. In this study, we evaluate inhibitory and cytotoxic effects of camphor in the fission yeast (Schizosaccharomyces pombe), which presents a unicellular model in mechanistic toxicology and cell biology. Low-dose camphor exposure (0.4 mg/mL) activated autophagy, which was shown by GFP-Atg8 dots and transcriptional upregulation of Atg6 (Beclin-1 ortholog). Autophagy was also confirmed by using autophagy-deficient cells, which showed reduction in GFP-Atg8 dot formation. However, high-dose camphor exposure (0.

The nutrient uptake processes of K, Mg, and Ca are strongly antagonistic resulting in a deficiency of the depressed nutrient [14]. A deficiency of one element could imply a relative or absolute excess of the others resulting in an imbalance for the plants [3]. A sufficient Ca concentration in soil or nutrient solution is important; however, major cations frequently interfere with Ca uptake [1].

A field experiment was conducted at ICAR-Indian Institute of Horticultural Research, Bengaluru to assess the interaction effects of combined application of Magnesium (Mg) and Potassium (K) on soil properties and yield of tomato. Results showed that mean effect of applied Mg resulted in 23 per cent to 28 per cent higher yield up to a doze of 50 kg Mg ha-1 as compared to non-application of magnesium.

A pot culture experiment was conducted using Goliath cultivar of Gerbera as a test crop to study the importance of Iron (Fe) and Magnesium (Mg) in the cultivation of Gerbera. The experiment was laid out with different treatments (factor A) including T1 as control (complete nutrition), T2 (excluding Magnesium) and T3 (excluding Iron), thereby accounting for 16 treatment combinations with five different days of harvesting (factor B).

Agriculture is going through a profound revolution worldwide due to increasing world demand for food, higher costs of energy and other inputs, environmental pollution problems, and instability of cropping systems. The importance of plant functioning can be realized from the facts that knowledge of mineral nutrition of plants has opened new vistas for fertilizer practices. The detection of deficiencies and toxicity of particular mineral nutrient element has enabled us to make adequate soil amendments and root nutrient absorption for better plant growth.

Magnesium (Mg)-deficiency is one of the most prevalent physiological disorders causing a reduction in Citrus yield and quality. ‘Xuegan’ (Citrus sinensis) seedlings were irrigated for 16 weeks with nutrient solution containing 2 mM (Mg-sufficiency) or 0 mM (Mg-deficiency) Mg(NO3)2.

Magnesium (Mg) deficiency causes physiological and molecular responses, already dissected in several plant species. The study of these responses among genotypes showing a different tolerance to the Mg shortage can allow identifying the mechanisms underlying the resistance to this nutritional disorder.

Field experiments were conducted during Kharif season 2015-16 at twenty farmer’s field to refine the critical limit of Zinc in soils for rice crop grown in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh. The soils of study sites varied in available Zn from 0.12 to 2.17 mg kg-1 and classified in three groups i.e., deficient (0.60 to 1.2 mg Zn kg-1 ). The soils were clayey, neutral to slight alkaline in reaction and low in organic carbon.

Magnesium (Mg) is the structural component of chlorophyll and polysaccharides and also an activator of several enzymes. Magnesium plays an important role in photosynthesis. An attempt was made in the present investigation on utilizing this property for increasing rate of photosynthesis of maize plant and subsequently higher root exudations which enhance the microbial activities in soil. Green house experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of MgO nano particles spray on maize plant (Zea mays L.) in three benchmark soils of India which are phosphorus (P) deficient.

Fruit Crops yield and quality significantly increase with the use of micronutrients such as zinc (Zn), iron (Fe), Calcium (Ca) Magnesium (Mg) Boron (B), Copper (Cu), Manganese (Mn), etc. Zinc (Zn) has an important metabolically role in plants vegetative and reproductive phases; growth and development; is therefore called an essential trace element or a micronutrient.

The present study intends to investigate micronutrient content of six commonly consumed greens namely Amaranthus spinosus, Chenopodium album, Spinaciaoleracea, Phyllanthus amarus, Talinum triangulare and Ludwigia adscendens after dehydration by using four different drying methods, i.e. sun drying, shade drying, cabinet dryer drying and microwave oven drying. Among the nutritional parameters, total mineral content, iron, calcium, potassium, phosphorous and ascorbic acid content was found highest in cabinet dryer dried samples, followed by microwave dried samples.

Vertical distribution of DTPA-extractable micronutrient cations (Fe, Cu, Mn and Zn) and its correlation with several physico-chemical properties of soils in fifteen orange orchards of Tamenglong district, Manipur was studied. Most of the upper soil layer had higher DTPA-extractable micronutrient cations (Fe, Cu, Mn and Zn) content than the lower horizons. In the profiles, the value of DTPA- extractable micronutrients (Fe, Cu, Mn and Zn) ranged from 18.62 to 45.12 mg kg-1 , 0.12 to 1.26 mg kg-1 , 3.42 to 44.33 mg kg-1 and 0.16 to 1.36 mg kg-1 , respectively.

For solidification of medium 0.4% w/v agar- agar was mixed in the Hogland solutions of both –Zn and +Zn. Prior to solidification, 11.25 mL of 0.1% bromothymol blue dye solution prepared in 60 % ethanol and was mixed to agar nutrient solution.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate blood copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), Iron (Fe) and Manganese (Mn) status of healthy goats (209) managed under semi intensive system in the three different agro-climatic zones of Punjab. For this purpose, two hundred nine blood and hair samples of various breeds of goats were taken. The samples were analyzed for trace minerals by using atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS) and the prevalence was recorded. Plasma Cu, Zn and Mn concentrations were significantly (P≤0.05) different among the three zones. The mean plasma Cu (0.57 ± 0.

Phosphorus and zinc are two essential nutrients which are required for normal plant growth. These nutrients are mutually antagonistic in certain circumstances which can cause yield reductions in many crops due to either P or Zn deficiencies. Deficiencies typically happen when a nutrient is available in small amounts. In this phenomenon, the nutrient is present in marginal to normal levels but the antagonizing nutrient is available in such a large amount that it induces the deficiency of the other.
