The results demonstrate that the PM10 mass collected were higher than those reported by the local governmental agencies and the PMs are mainly constituted by hematite and quartz. EDS analysis showed the presence of Fe, Si, Mg, Al, Zi, Ca, and emerging metallic contaminants, such as Ba and Ti, in environmental samples.

Tobacco can accumulate higher concentrations of heavy metals, and the genotypic differences of tobacco in heavy metal uptake and their growth responses have not been clearly examined. Poly(ethylene glycol) bis(methylimidazolium) di[bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide] was synthesized as an ionic liquid and impregnated onto chitosan. The removal of uranium(VI) ions from aqueous solution was investigated with batch sorption tests using ionic liquid impregnated chitosan. Response surface methodology based on 3 level Box– Behnken design was applied to analyze the effect of initial pH (4–6), initial concentration (20–60 mg L −1 ), contact time (15–105 min), and temperature (30–50°C) on the uptake capacity of uranium(VI).

In this study, an effective adsorbent was synthesized to remove malachite green (MG), which is one of the toxic dyes. Firstly, single walled carbon nanotube with carboxylated acid (SWCNT-COOH) was functionalized with diethylenetriamine and a new nanocomposite was obtained using nano zinc oxide (ZnO) powder. The effects of pH (3–7), the amount of adsorbent (5–15 mg) and the initial concentration (10–50 mg L–1) of the solution on the adsorption uptake were investigated. The optimal parameters that maximize the adsorption uptake according to the specified working range are found to be 4.

A pot experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2016-17 and 2017-18 in completely randomized design with two lime levels (0 and ¼ lime of LR), four phosphorus levels (0, 13.4, 26.8 and 40.2 mg P2O5 kg-1 ) and three boron levels (0, 0.45 and 0.90 mg B kg-1 ) to study the treatment effect on nutrient content and uptake of maize and soil properties. It was observed that lime had a significant effect on biomass yield, nutrient content and uptake of maize.

The nutrient uptake processes of K, Mg, and Ca are strongly antagonistic resulting in a deficiency of the depressed nutrient [14]. A deficiency of one element could imply a relative or absolute excess of the others resulting in an imbalance for the plants [3]. A sufficient Ca concentration in soil or nutrient solution is important; however, major cations frequently interfere with Ca uptake [1].

A pot culture experiment was conducted using Goliath cultivar of Gerbera as a test crop to study the importance of Iron (Fe) and Magnesium (Mg) in the cultivation of Gerbera. The experiment was laid out with different treatments (factor A) including T1 as control (complete nutrition), T2 (excluding Magnesium) and T3 (excluding Iron), thereby accounting for 16 treatment combinations with five different days of harvesting (factor B).

Field experiments were conducted during 2010-12 at Regional Research Station, Virudhachalam to find out the residual effect of fly ash, farm yard manure and fertilizers applied to groundnut on growth parameters, nutrient uptake, yield of sesame and post-harvest soil available nutrients. The Neyveli Lignite Corporation fly ash contained higher amount of Ca, Mg, S and Si, moderate amount of P, K and B. Application of fly ash @ 40 t/ha significantly increased growth parameters, yield attributes, seed yield and harvest index of sesame.

An experiment was conducted in cemented pot in “screen house” of the Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur during Rabi season 2011-2012, to assess the response of inoculation of rhizobium and application of different doses of iron on nutrient uptake in chickpea. Treatments consisted four levels of iron i.e. 0, 2.5, 5.0 and 7.5 ppm and two levels of microbial inoculation i.e. un-inoculation and inoculation of rhizobium. A pot experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2014-15 at the cage house, Sri Karan Narendra Agriculture University, Jobner. The application of potassium humate and seed inoculation with bio-inoculants significantly increased the NPK content and uptake, quality and yield of cowpea. The results revealed that the higher values of NPK content, uptake and Protein content in seed of cowpea are obtain under the application of potassium humate @10 mg/kg soil and Rhizobium + VAM + PSB seed inoculation than other treatment.

Investigations on the seasonal fluctuations in the uptake and status of the secondary nutrients (Ca, Mg and S) in both fruiting and non-fruiting terminals in cashew carried out during 2006 and 2007 in twelve plantations spread over the cashew growing districts of north coastal Andhra Pradesh revealed that the nutrient contents ranged from 0.216 to 1.532% (low to high), 0.132 to 0.226% (low to adequate) and 0.087 to 0.174% (low to high) with respect to Ca, Mg, and S, respectively.

A screen house experiment was conducted to understand the influence of phosphorus and boron application on yield and enrichment of seed and straw of green gram. Five levels of phosphorus (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 mg kg-1 ) and 4 levels of boron (0, 0.25, 0.5 and 1.0 mg kg-1 ) were applied in pots filled up with 4 kg light texture (sand) soil. Eight seeds of green gram were seeded in each pot and replicated thrice. The soil used in pot had pH 7.90, EC 0.17 dSm-1 , organic carbon 0.09%, DTPA Zn 0.36 mg kg-1 and hot water soluble B 0.5 mg kg-1 soil.

Field experiments were conducted at Zonal Agricultural Research Station, Jhabua (RVSKVV, Gwalior) during kharif 2013, 2014 and 2015 to study the effect of organic, inorganic manures and biofertilizers on growth, yield and nutrient uptake by soybean. Results revealed that application of 50% RDF (10:30:20 kg NPK/ha) + 50% vermicompost (2.5 t/ha) recorded significantly higher growth characters viz., plant height (55.88 cm), number of branches (4.72), dry matter production (19.21 g/plant), no. of nodules (19.21/plant) and dry weight of nodules (65.43 mg/plant).

Response of different sources and levels of sulphur on quality and grading of onion (Allium cepa L.)
Onion is one of the important and commercial vegetable crops of India. Onion is sulphur loving crop and its requirement is high for improved yield and quality. Sulphur has been recognized as an important nutrient for higher yield, quality and nutrient uptake of onion bulbs. Keeping these in view, a field experiment was conducted at ICAR- National Institute on Abiotic Stress Management (ICAR – NIASM), Baramati, during Rabi, 2017-18 to study the effect of sources and levels of sulphur on bulb quality and grading in onion (cv. Bhima Kiran).

In field study, total 36 treatment combinations consisting of three moisture regimes as main plot treatment and 12 combinations of two levels of FYM, three levels of P carriers as sub-plot treatments evaluated in split plot design with three replications using wheat variety GW-451 as test crop. The results revealed that the maintenance of moisture between 100 and 75 % available water content (W1) significantly increased the length of earhead, number of grains/earhead, 1000-grain weight, grain and straw yield as well as gluten content. The treatments W1 and W2 resulted in 22.11 and 18.
