Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and nutrition status of human are linked to HIV infection and poor nutrient intake can speed the disease progress. Both macro-and micronutrient deficiencies could impair host immune functions and promote viral replication and pathogenicity, thus potentially affecting the clinical course of HIV infection.

This study therefore aimed at developing complementary foods from soybean, cowpea, groundnuts, palm oil, mango and egg yolk that can help solve the problem of micronutrient deficiencies in infant 6-12 mo of age in developing countries. We further determined the nutritional profile, sensory characteristics, and acceptability of the developed weaning food.

Micronutrient deficiency is a public health problem even though vegetable consumption could avert it. Vitamin C [Ascorbic acid (AA) and dehydroascorbate (DHAA)], β-carotene, lutein and vitamin B9 contents in seven traditional green leafy vegetables (raw and cooked) from Ghana were determined, to identify good sources and their potential contribution to Dietary Recommended Intakes.

Selenium (Se), an essential micronutrient in both animals and humans, has various biological functions, and its deficiency can lead to various diseases. The most common method for increasing Se uptake is the consumption of Se-rich plants, which transform inorganic Se into organic forms.

The functioning of these enzymes is affected significantly due to Zn deficiency and there will be a retarded growth and productivity of plants. Deficiency of Zn is a universal problem among cereal crops. The concentration of Zn varies from 6-1.2 mg/kg in various soils, whereas its concentration reaches 20-300 ppm in plants. Zn deficiency leads to chlorosis in the leaves of plants.

Iron (Fe) is an essential micronutrient for plants. Utilization of Fe deficiency-tolerant rootstock is an effective strategy to prevent Fe deficiency problems in fruit trees production. Malus halliana is an apple rootstock that is resistant to Fe deficiency; however, few molecular studies have been conducted on M. halliana

Deficiency of micronutrients during the last three decades has grown in both, magnitude and extent. This has become a major constraint to production and productivity of vegetables in general and onion in particular. Bhonde et al., (1995) evaluated the effect of zinc, copper and boron on onion crop. Bulb size and yield as well as quality of bulb enhanced when micronutrients were applied in combinations instead of their single application.micronutrients, Zinc and Boron, Quality of Onion

Micronutrients are essential for the plant system, animals and humans growth, are receiving increased attention as their deficiency in soil is threatening the agricultural sustainability, nutritional quality as well as animal and human health. In order to assess the effect of Fe application in Grain Amaranthus (Amaranthus hypochondriacus L.) crop under middle Gujarat condition, a field experiment was conducted during Rabi season, 2019-2020 at College Agronomy Farm, B. A. College of Agriculture, Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat).

The study was done in four tribal villages Durbili, Suryanagaram, Shantinagaram, and Vanjarapuguda to identify the Nutritional status of the tribal families and studying the dietary pattern of the tribal families. The sample comprised of 450 tribal people. Results revealed that children below 6 years were formed to be undernourished, adolescent girls found to be anaemic, pregnant and lactating women were found to be underweight and anaemic due to micronutrient deficiencies in their diets.

Micronutrients are not only essential for plant growth and development but are also integral to human health. Fe and Zn deficiencies cause serious nutritional problems in human beings. Increasing the micronutrient content of grain by bio-fortification offers great potential to combat micronutrient deficiency and dramatically impact human health. To find out the most suitable and profitable method of bio-fortification in aromatic rice with Zinc and Iron, a field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2019 at the Research Farm, Bihar Agricultural University, Sabour, Bhagalpur.

Biofortification is a probable and cost-effective means of providing micronutrients to populations that may have limited access to diverse diets and other micronutrient intercession. Micronutrient deficiency, also known as „hidden hunger‟ is one of the most important provocations facing humanity today. According to world health organization (WHO) report about 3 billion people worldwide suffer from micronutrients deficiency. In India, malnutrition problems like anaemia about more than 52% of women suffer, 44% of children below 5 years are underweight and 38% are stunted.

Dietary diversity (DD) has been identified as a potentially useful indicator of micronutrient status. Adolescents eating less number of food groups may be at the risk of nutritional deficiency. This study was aimed to determine the dietary diversity in the diets of adolescents and to find its correlation with the probability of adequacy of five micronutrients. Two hundred adolescents (13-17y) were selected randomly from the rural Govt. Senior Secondary School of Dhanger and urban Govt. Senior Secondary School Fatehabad, Haryana.
