The oil absorption capacity decreased with blending. Other functional properties such as Water absorption capacity, Bulk density, swelling index, loaf height, and loaf volume increased as blends ration increases. Sensory characteristic reflected a down turn progression as blending was increased. Increase in cashew nut flour led to increase in chemical and functional quality values of the bread samples hence cheap bio functional ingredient which could also alleviate hidden hunger in rural populations with supplies of macro and micro nutrients.

Knowledge of spatial variability in soil fertility is important for site specific nutrient management. In this study, spatial variability in properties that influence soil fertility such as soil organic carbon (OC), available N, available P2O5 and available K2O, secondary and micro nutrients in surface soils (0-30 cm depth) of 67 farmers' fields of Alanatha Cluster Villages, Kanakapura Taluk, Ramanagara District, Karnataka (India) were quantified and the respective thematic maps were prepared on the basis of ratings of nutrients.

Plant roots, soil and microbial interactions result in alteration of soil physical and chemical properties that in turn affect the micro-biological properties in the rhizosphere region. The growth and productivity of plant depends upon the diversity and composition of soil microflora present near rhizosphere zone. The aim of this study is to review the effect of organic, inorganic and integrated use of nutrients on soil properties under different land use systems in rhizospheric region.

An Investigation on physico-chemical properties, NPK and micro nutrient status of soils of Janpad major, Left bank canal, Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP), Telangana, India was carried. The soils are having clay content ranging from 6 to 24 per cent, silt content from 4 to 20 per cent and sand content from 69 to 87 per cent. The Hydraulic conductivity varied from 15 to 20 cm day-1 with a mean value of 17.5 cm day-1 . Mostly the soils under the command area are slightly acidic to slightly alkaline and non-saline in nature.

The residual effect on soil properties on application of composts made out of composting enzyme industrial wastes and municipal solid wastes namely MEES compost (multiple effect evaporator salts + municipal solid waste) and primary sludge (PS) compost (Primary sludge + municipal solid waste) were evaluated in this study. Application of composts recorded a marginal increase in soil pH towards harvest (6.70 and 6.68 in treatment T8 (50% N through MEES + 50 % N through FYM and T7 (PS compost @ 10 t ha-1 ) respectively) in comparison to the initial pH and a higher organic carbon content of 0.

Mushrooms are considered to be next generation health food as they are low in fat, have no cholesterol, high in protein with good biological value. Many of the micro nutrient deficiencies have been solved by various fortification strategies. Among alternate or other novel sources of proteins to bridge the protein gap in the food articles, mushroom offers themselves as a potent source of protein. The proteins of mushroom are of high quality and rich in various essential amino acids.

The present study was conducted to assess the effect of three agricultural land-uses viz. cropland, horticultural land and uncultivated land on soil quality and fertility status. Soil samples were collected from south-western plains of Punjab which is classified under semi-arid climate. Samples were analysed for assessment of some selected soil physicochemical properties as well as macro and micro nutrient status. Results of the investigation reported that soil samples of the study area are slightly alkaline and non-saline in nature.

An experiment was conducted during 2015 and 2016 to study the effect of growing media and plant spacing on growth and yield of capsicum cv. Orobelle in the mid hills of Himalayas. The media consisting of Soil + Cocopeat + Vermicompost + FYM (2:1:0.5:0.5) proved to be statistically superior over rest of the growing media for almost all the aspects under investigation. All the attributes were better or at par when the plants were spaced at the wider plant spacing (45 x 60 cm).

SOC plays key role in mitigating global climate change and improves land productivity through improved soil properties such as nutrient supply and moisture retention. Studying carbon pools under existing land uses provides baseline data to project C sequestration over time. The present investigation was undertaken to estimate the SOC stock in two dominant soil series under different land uses of North-Eastern Agro-climatic zone of Tamil Nadu. Land uses selected for the study were Forests, Agriculture, Agro-forestry and Plantations.

Fly ash management would remain a great concern all over the world. Several studies indicated that there is an ample scope for safe utilization of fly ash as a soil ameliorant that may improve physical, chemical and biological properties of the soil and is a source of readily available plant micro and macro nutrient. With this concept, a pot culture experiment was carried out at the Horticulture Research Station, OUAT, Bhubaneswar, under naturally ventilated poly house condition during 2017 and 2018.
