Micro sprinkler irrigation

The present study is undertaken with following objectives to cater the need of farmer in order to improve marketable yield, water use efficiency and economic return of onion to investigate the effect of irrigation scheduling on economic return of onion.

The research work entitled “To compare the utilization of fertilizer through drip, micro sprinkler and conventional (i.e. check basin) irrigation methods in litchi plants inter – cropped with Garlic and Onion.” was carried out under three main treatments on Irrigation methods namely; drip, micro sprinkler and traditional irrigation method (Check basin), three sub main treatments. i.e. without intercrop and inter-cropped with garlic and onion crops, with three replications.

Groundwater is an important source for irrigation in large tracks of India. This source has been considered as infinite and used indiscriminately without any disregard to recharge prospects. Reducing the over exploitation of ground water and its optimal utilization for irrigation is the need of the hour especially in low rainfall areas.

Micro irrigation systems endow lot of water saving for future crop and expand the land under cultivation with sustains the soil healthy for sustainable growth towards achieving growing food grain demand. Keeping this, the present on-farm trial was conducted in a farmer field of Gumthala Garhu village of Kurukshethra district, Haryana state. For assessment of rice yield, three different irrigation methods viz. drip, sprinkler and flood irrigation methods were adapted.

Photovoltaic based electricity generation saves a major portion of renewable energy generation in India. Ever increasing fuel cost and doubtful availability of electricity hampers the irrigated crop production. Use of solar pump is an alternate to electric or diesel pumps for irrigation of crops. This paper presents the utilization of solar power for operating micro irrigation systems for irrigating field crops. An open well submersible pump of 5hp capacity was operated by 4960Wp solar panel installed at ICAR-CIAE, Bhopal for irrigation.
