Predicting dynamics of host-microbial ecosystems is crucial for the rational design of bacteriotherapies. We present MDSINE, a suite of algorithms for inferring dynamical systems models from microbiome time-series data and predicting temporal behaviors. Using simulated data, we demonstrate that MDSINE significantly outperforms the existing inference method.

The time course of production of BE-AM1 was affected significantly by altering the release of the biomolecule from the surface of the bacterium. This will be the first study to analyse the effect of factors influencing the production of industrially important functional amyloid protein from bacterial source having potential in environmental remediation and microbial interaction.

The main objective of this study was to estimate the taxonomic diversity of microbial species present in ready-toeat ceviche using a metagenomic approach. Six samples of commercially available ceviche were subjected to DNA high throughput sequencing and bioinformatics analyses, we identified between 65,000 and 131,000 reads per sample. The predominant phyla identified through the samples were Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes.

High-throughput sequencing (HTS) technologies are increasingly applied to analyse complex microbial ecosystems by mRNA sequencing of whole communities, also known as metatranscriptome sequencing. This approach is at the moment largely limited to prokaryotic communities and communities of few eukaryotic species with sequenced genomes. For eukaryotes the analysis is hindered mainly by a low and fragmented coverage of the reference databases to infer the community composition, but also by lack of automated workflows for the task.

Composting is an important technique for environment-friendly degradation of organic material, and is a microbe-driven process. Previous metagenomic studies of composting have presented a general description of the taxonomic and functional diversity of its microbial populations, but they have lacked more specific information on the key organisms that are active during the process.

Recent advances in the next-generation sequencing (NGS) allowed the metagenomic analyses of DNA from many different environments and sources, including thousands of years old skeletal remains. It has been shown that most of the DNA extracted from ancient samples is microbial.

This study reports the analyses of the rhizospheric microbiome of the groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) from Gujarat, India. Samples were collected using standard protocols and 16S rRNA gene V3–V4 region amplicon sequencing was performed to identify the microbial communities prevalent in the rhizosphere.

Researchers have found an eco-friendly alternative by the way of incorporating microbial biofertilizers to supersede chemical fertilizers. Microbial biofertilizers has been analysed as substitute in procuring soil fertility and expanding vegetable production. Microbial fertilizers are promising enough to outstand the chemical fertilizers ensuring sustainable agriculture without disrupting the environment.

The study revealed a significant increase in acidity and reducing sugars. There was a significant decrease in antioxidant activity, HMF concentration, pH, total sugars, ascorbic acid content and overall acceptability of the beverage. The beverage showed an increased microbial count making the beverage unacceptable after six days of storage.

Understanding the interaction among different species within a community and their responses to environmental changes is a central goal in ecology. However, defining the network structure in a microbial community is very challenging due to their extremely high diversity and as-yet uncultivated status.

The explosive growth of microbiome research has yielded great quantities of data. These data provide us with many answers, but raise just as many questions. 16S rDNA—the backbone of microbiome analyses—allows us to assess α-diversity, β-diversity, and microbe-microbe associations, which characterize the overall properties of an ecosystem.
