A field experiment conducted on the effect of organic treatments and spacing on growth and yield parameters of kalmegh under rabi season 2017-18 at college of Horticulture, Rajendranagar revealed that interaction between organic treatments and spacing significantly influenced growth and yield parameters. The treatment M1S1 - FYM 30 t/ha + AMC (7.5 l/ha) with spacing S1 (15 x15 cm) recorded maximum plant height (45.64 cm) at harvest, followed by M3S3- Neem cake 7.5 t/ha + AMC 7.5 l/ha with spacing S3 (30 x 45 cm). Minimum was recorded in M5S3 – control at spacing (S3- 30 x 45 cm).

A new formulation of effervescent tablets containing microbial consortium was prepared for tomato with an objective to improve its survival and effectiveness. Three agriculturally beneficial microorganisms viz. Azotobacter chroococcum, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus megaterium were used in consortium. Tablets were prepared using wet granulation method using talc or compost as diluent. Effectiveness of these inoculants formulations was studied in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) in a greenhouse.

A microbial consortium consisting of Azospirillum, phosphate solubilizing bacterium (Pseudomonas striata), potassium solubilizing bacterium, PGPR (plant growth promoting rhizobacterium) strain (Pseudomonas sp. B15) and lactic acid bacterium (Leuconostoc mesenteroides) with antifungal activities was prepared. It effect on the growth and biomass of different vegetable seedlings raised in nursery protrays was evaluated in a commercial farmer’s nursery. The microbial inoculation resulted in improved plant height and biomass. The per cent increase in plant height and girth of tomato was 57.

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of inoculation of microbial consortia on growth parameters of green gram. The beneficial microbial strains were collected from the department of Agricultural Microbiology, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad. These strains were tested for their compatibility and prepared three different microbial consortia such as rhizosphere consortia-1, rhizosphere consortia-2 and phyllosphere consortia.

A field study was conducted in the Experimental Farm, Department of Horticulture, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat for three years viz., during 2009-10, 2010-11 and 2011-12. The results of three years pooled data of the experiment revealed that among the different treatments, application of enrich compost@10t/ha (T2) significantly increases the growth and flower characters followed by combination of enrich compost @10t/ha + Biofertilizer (T4). Highest plant height (53.19 cm) stalk length (56.50cm), days to full bloom (64.50), no of flowers/Plant (38.19), size of flower (9.

Endophytes are the micro-organism which shares the life long relation with the host. The bacterial endophytes promote the growth directly and indirectly by several mechanisms. Keeping in mind, the present investigation has been carried out to evaluate the bacterial endophytes for their plant growth promotion in vitro condition. Four screened bacterial antagonists viz., SVC 11, BE 1, NGB 21 and M1W1 were evaluated for the germination and the vigour of French bean, brinjal and rapeseed mustard seeds. The bacteria were used individual as well as in consortium mode on the respective seeds.

Bacterial and fungal endophytes are widespread inhabitants inside plant tissues and have been shown to assist plant growth and health. However, little is known about plant growth-promoting endophytes (PGPE) of medicinal plants. Therefore, the aims of this study were to identify bacterial and fungal endophytes of Teucrium polium and to characterize plant growth-promoting (PGP) properties of these endophytes.
