Microbial communities recurrently establish metabolic associations resulting in increased fitness and ability to perform complex tasks, such as xenobiotic degradation. In a previous study, we have described a sulfonamidedegrading consortium consisting of a novel low-abundant actinobacterium, named strain GP, and Achromobacter denitrificans PR1.

An Investigation was carried out on enzymes activity during composting of urban waste with microbial consortium and activators (cow dung slurry, diary spent wash, biodigester liquid and bovine urine). Significant variation in dehydrogenase, phosphatase and urease activity was noticed among the treatments at all the intervals during composting of urban waste with activators. Dehydrogenase activity was increased at 30th day of composting and decreased at 60th day thereafter, it gradually increased at 120th day of composting.

A field experiment conducted on the effect of organic treatments and spacing on growth and yield parameters of kalmegh under rabi season 2017-18 at college of Horticulture, Rajendranagar revealed that interaction between organic treatments and spacing significantly influenced growth and yield parameters. The treatment M1S1 - FYM 30 t/ha + AMC (7.5 l/ha) with spacing S1 (15 x15 cm) recorded maximum plant height (45.64 cm) at harvest, followed by M3S3- Neem cake 7.5 t/ha + AMC 7.5 l/ha with spacing S3 (30 x 45 cm). Minimum was recorded in M5S3 – control at spacing (S3- 30 x 45 cm).

A new formulation of effervescent tablets containing microbial consortium was prepared for tomato with an objective to improve its survival and effectiveness. Three agriculturally beneficial microorganisms viz. Azotobacter chroococcum, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Bacillus megaterium were used in consortium. Tablets were prepared using wet granulation method using talc or compost as diluent. Effectiveness of these inoculants formulations was studied in tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) in a greenhouse.

Mixed cultures of different microbial species are increasingly being used to carry out a specific biochemical function in lieu of engineering a single microbe to do the same task. However, knowing how different species’ metabolisms will integrate to reach a desired outcome is a difficult problem that has been studied in great detail using steady-state models.

The newly developed cellulolytic microbial consortium was evaluated for its composting efficiency on rural and urban waste in open pit method. During composting highest temperature was recorded in second week in both the rural and urban waste compost pits. The temperature declined gradually thereafter in all the treatments upto 11th week and remained almost stable thereafter.

This microbial consortium degraded 2,537.34 ngTEQ/kg of 2,3,7,8-TCDD congener in soil, equivalent to 59.1% lost of total toxicity in comparison to the control without bacterial seeding (4,294.12 ng TEQ/kg). Such a high ratio of dioxin degradation by a bacterial consortium was reported here for the first time, contributing more evidences for convincing the successful dioxin bioremediation of “Active Landfill” technology at large scale in Z1 area at Bienhoa airbase, Dongnai, Vietnam.

The chemical fertilisers when applied to soil more than the recommended, it not only affects the yield of flowers but also affects on deterioration of soil health. As an alternative to this, the low cost bio-fertilisers are one of the solutions which will help the farmers to reduce the cost of cultivation. This need to experimented. In view of this, the study was conducted to find out the influence of Vermicompost in combination with Microbial Consortium on reproductive parameters of Chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflora L.) cv. Marigold.

An understanding of soil microorganisms as part of soil system and interactions between the diversity of producers and of decomposers, have major consequences on the functioning of agricultural ecosystems. Soil microorganisms control the transformation and mineralization of natural compounds and xenobiotics. The soil micro biota, existing in high density and diversity, rapidly modify the energetic performance and activity rates to changing environmental conditions.

Petrochemical Industry manufacturing petrochemical product-generate waste containing organic compounds. As the toxicity level of most of these compounds is high, there is an increasing demand for remediation of such sites that involves removal of the offending compounds. Bioremediation uses living systems or biological products to biodegrade waste, with the objective being reduction of waste to chemical forms that can be assimilated into natural cycles. In the present study, the use of micro-organism for bioremediation has been carried out.

B15) and lactic acid bacterium (Leuconostoc mesenteroides) with antifungal activities was prepared. It effect on the growth and biomass of different vegetable seedlings raised in nursery protrays was evaluated in a commercial farmer’s nursery.
