Microbial oil production

Ebook "Modern techniques and solvents for the extraction of microbial oils" has been done as part of ProBio3 project financed by Agence National de la Recherche (France) to achieve scientific and technological challenges to boost the sustainable microbial production of lipids as biojet fuel and fine chemical compounds. Authors are totally convinced that this book is the starting point for future collaborations and innovations in a new area of “green chemistry” of “natural products” between research, industry, and education.

In contrast, these results showed a decrease when glucose and C/N ratio were higher than 100 g/L and 333, respectively. Concurrently, the oil content showed a continuous rise as the glucose and C/N ratio increased. Furthermore, the maximum specific growth rate (μmax) declined sharply when P. parantarctica was cultivated under high glucose concentration.

A study is conducted at the Regional Agricultural Research Station, Pilicode for developing an instant curry paste with coconut kernel as base material which is in line with a traditional cuisine in Malabar region of Kerala. Spicy curry paste from desiccated coconut was prepared without any preservatives using virgin coconut oil, salt, curry leaf, guar gum, papaya starch, tapioca starch, jack fruit seed flour, onion powder and garlic powder along with an ideal blend of spices for instant, easy and fast cooking.

The present study was envisaged to study the antioxidant and antimicrobial potential of oregano essential oil (OEO) in processed meat model (chicken patties, CP). Three treatments were prepared as control (CP without CEO), T-1, T-2 and T-3 containing 0.125%, 0.25% and 0.5% OEO, respectively and aerobically packaged. The samples were evaluated for different quality attributes.

The objective of this thesis was to study the interactions of microbial activity, biocide usage and creation, and chemical changes in the papermaking process. The main focus was on oxidative biocide systems. In addition, new measurement and biocide production methods were applied to papermaking, and evaluated for the monitoring and control of the microbiological state and biocide usage. The measurement methods were based on portable handheld online equipments whereas the biocide production was based on electrochemical generation of biocides.
