The research article "Polyester production by halophilic and halotolerant bacterial strains obtained from mangrove soil samples located in Northern Vietnam" reports halophilic and halotolerant bacteria isolated from mangrove forests located in Northern Vietnam. Several of these bacteria were able to synthesize polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs). PHAs are polyesters stored by microorganisms under the presence of considerable amounts of a carbon source and deficiency of other essential nutrient such as nitrogen or phosphorous.

The leaves of Combretum quadrangulare Kurz. collected in Long An Province were chemically investigated using multiple chromatographic methods. Four compounds, 5-hydroxy3,7,4′-trimethoxyflavone (1), ayanin (2), kamatakenin (3), and luteolin (4) were isolated and elucidated. Their chemical structures were elucidated by comparing their spectroscopic data with those in previous reports.

In the present study, the properties of calcium carbonate mineralization and urease and carbonic anhydrase activities of Bacillus amyloliquefaciens U17 isolated from calcareous soil of Denizli (Turkey) were analyzed. CaCO3 was produced in all growth phases. Strain U17 showed 0.615 ± 0.092 µmol/min/mg urease enzyme activity in calcium mineralization medium and 1.315 ± 0.021 µmol/min/mg urease enzyme activity in Luria-Bertani medium supplemented with urea, whereas it showed 36.03 ± 5.48 nmol/min/ mg carbonic anhydrase enzyme activity in CaCO3 precipitation medium and 28.82 ± 3.

Osteomyelitis is the infection and inflammation of the bone. Inappropriate use of antibiotics and multidrug resistance has raised the morbidity and mortality rate in chronic osteomyelitis. This study aims to determine the bacterial profile and antimicrobial susceptibility patterns of chronic osteomyelitis with special mention to various resistant mechanisms. Samples from osteomyelitis cases were aerobically cultured and isolates from culture positives were identified by standard procedures. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was done by Kirby Bauer disk diffusion method.

Non fermentors are important noscomial pathogens causing opportunistic infections in immunocompromised patients. They cause infections with patients having humidifiers, ventilators and catheter devices especially in medical intensive care units. To isolate identify in which age group, sex, risk factors of non fermentative gram negative bacteria The study was performed from September 2018 to February 2019 for a period of 6 months in Department of Microbiology& Medical Intensive Care Units. The present study was done to evaluate the antifungal susceptibility pattern of Candida species by Disc diffusion method which is helpful for guiding therapy. All clinical samples sent to the Microbiology laboratory were inoculated on to Blood agar and MacConkey agar. The suspected colonies of Candida were identified by Gram stain and inoculated onto CHROM Candida differential agar for speciation.
