Micronutrients on fruit
-
Iron (Fe) is an essential micronutrient for plants. Utilization of Fe deficiency-tolerant rootstock is an effective strategy to prevent Fe deficiency problems in fruit trees production. Malus halliana is an apple rootstock that is resistant to Fe deficiency; however, few molecular studies have been conducted on M. halliana

The low yield of pulses is mainly attributed to their cultivation on poor soils with inadequate and imbalanced nutrient application without the application of organic manures and micronutrients like boron, zinc and iron. Since the poor soils are low in organic matter content, use of organic manures plays a vital role in improving soil physical condition, provides vital plant nutrients and maintains long term productivity of the soil. Boron helps in carbohydrate transport. It is necessary for the germination of pollen, formation of flowers and fruits and for the absorption of cations.

Dietary assessment is the process of evaluating what people eat by using one or several intake indicators. It is the best approach for identifying nutrients that are likely to either be under-or over consumed by the individual or groups of interest. It also can be used to identify food patterns and preferences. Dietary assessment was done through food weighment and dietary diversity to identify the food consumption pattern, food and nutrients intake and food preferences of SHG and Non SHG households. This study was conducted on 120 SHG households and 30 Non SHG households.

Productivity of citrus trees depends on many abiotic and biotic factors, among which the adequate supply of micro nutrients is most important in Kinnow mandarin. Therefore a field trial was conducted to assess the effect of foliar application of different micronutrient concentrations on growth characteristics and shelf life of the Kinnow mandarin under rainfed conditions of Jammu.

Plant growth regulators and micronutrients are an important part of plants and affect their physiology in several ways. Micronutrients and plant growth regulators together play an important role. They help in both vegetative and reproductive growth and are indispensable for the product of foliage flowers, fruits and seeds.

Plant nutrition plays a major role in quantitative and qualitative crop production in bringing sustainability and plants require seventeen essential elements for their normal growth and development. Among these, those elements required smaller in quantity is called micronutrients (Fe, Cu, Zn, Mn, B, Cl, Mo and Ni). Micronutrients are essentially as important as macronutrients to have better growth, yield and quality in plants.

Guava is one of the important fruit crop cultivated all over India. A guava plant shows micronutrient deficiency which could be responsible for lesser yield and quality. Foliar feeding of nutrients to fruit plants has gained much importance in recent years which is quite economical and obviously an ideal way of evading the problems of micronutrients availability and supplementing the fertilizers to the soil. The present investigation was conducted at Horticultural College & Research Institute, Periyakulam during 2018-2019.

Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar (U.S. Nagar), Uttarakhand to study the effect of preharvest foliar spray of micronutrients on chemical parameters of mango cv. Langra at ambient storage conditions.Under ambient storage conditions, preharvest foliar spray of boron, zinc, iron and copper gave minimum total titrable acidity. A combined application of boron, zinc and iron showed maximum total sugar percentage in ambient stored fruits.
