Microvascular perfusion

Microcirculatory driving pressure is defined as the difference between post-arteriolar and venular pressure. In previous research, an absence of correlation between mean arterial blood pressure (MAP) and microcirculatory perfusion has been observed. However, the microcirculation may be considered as a low pressure compartment with capillary pressure closer to venous than to arterial pressure.

The role of recombinant activated protein C (aPC) during sepsis is still controversial. It showed antiinflammatory effect and improved the microvascular perfusion in experimental models of septic shock. The present study was aimed at testing the hypothesis that recombinant aPC therapy improves the microcirculation during severe sepsis.

The microvessels area (MVA), derived from microvascular proliferation, is a biomarker useful for highgrade glioma classifcation. Nevertheless, its measurement is costly, labor-intense, and invasive. Finding radiologic cor‑ relations with MVA could provide a complementary non-invasive approach without an extra cost and labor intensity and from the first stage.

In vascular surgery with aortic cross-clamping, ischemia/reperfusion injury induces systemic haemodynamic and microcirculatory disturbances. Different anaesthetic regimens may have a varying impact on tissue perfusion. The aim of this study was to explore changes in microvascular perfusion in patients undergoing elective open abdominal aortic aneurysm repair under balanced or total intravenous anaesthesia.

Prostate cancer-related morbidity is associated with its preferential spread to the bone. Although the molecular interactions between the bone microenvironment and cancer cells have been researched extensively, the relevance of the microvascular properties of prostate cancer bone metastases remains largely unknown.

Microvascular perfusion is often impaired after primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). We proposed that in situ thrombosis might contribute to poor myocardial perfusion in this setting. To test this hypothesis, we evaluated the effect of lowdose intracoronary streptokinase administered immediately after primary PCI. Methods Forty-one patients undergoing primary PCI were randomly assigned to receive intracoronary streptokinase (250 kU) or no additional therapy.
