Microwave synthesis methods

Ten new chromone derivatives were synthesized from the original 2-4-6- trihydroxyacetophenone using microwave irradiation. The product's structures were confirmed by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR spectra data. The anti-microbial activities of the obtained compounds were tested by the disc diffusion method. The results showed that most chromones have significant biological activities against Candida albicans.

In this paper, we report a simple and fast method to produce uniform nano-sized Ag particles that can be dispersed in the oil phase by using oleic acid as solvent and capping agent. Oleylamine, a longchain amine that can act as an electron donor at elevated temperatures and is miscible with oleic acid, was selected as a reductant.

A series of chalcone analogues were synthesized using Claisen-Schmidt condensation and assayed for in vitro inhibitory activity against α-glucosidase. The synthesis involved in solvent-free reaction conditions including NaOHcatalyzed grinding or microwave irradiation in the presence of a clay-based catalyst. Hydroxychalcones and 2′-hydroxychalcones were not isolated when using grinding method, while the microwave-assisted, clay-catalyzed synthesis gave these desired products. In addition, flavanones, cyclization products from 2′-hydroxychalcones were formed in both methods.

Green synthesis of UV absorber (E)-2-(((4- (benzyloxy)phenyl)imino)methyl)phenol by microwave method
In this work, a UV absorber compound (E)-2-(((4-(benzyloxy)phenyl)imino)methyl)phenol was synthesized by microwave method using a two steps protocol. In the first step, α-(4-hydroxyphenylimino)-o-cresol (1) was synthesized from 4-aminophenol and salicylaldehyde by circulating under microwave heating at 60 oC for 8 minutes, the reaction yield reached 82.91 %.

Photocatalytic degradation of paracetamol by semiconductor oxides under UV and sunlight illumination
In this study, photocatalytic degradation of paracetamol (acetaminophen), an analgesic and antipyretic drug, was investigated in using semiconductors under UV-B and sunlight irradiation. Semiconductor materials, Bi2 O3 , ZnO, TiO2 , and ZrO2 , were prepared using simple sol–gel, coprecipitation, and microwave synthesis methods. These photocatalyts were characterized by various spectroscopic and other techniques.

A series of potential biological active acyl hydrazone derivatives containing ibuprofen moiety (compounds 4a–4p) was synthesized by the condensation of ibuprofen hydrazone with aromatic aldehydes using conventional and microwave irradiation methods. The microwave method was found to be successful with nearly the same or higher yields and shorter reaction time, and it was more environmentally friendly compared to the conventional heating method. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR, and APT-NMR spectroscopy.

2,2’-[1,4(1,3)-Phenylenedi(methylene)]bis-1H-benzimidazole derivatives were obtained from the reaction of 1,4- or (1,3)-bisiminoester hydrochloride and o-phenylenediamine derivatives under microwave irradiation. Ester and hydrazide derivatives were prepared from a free NH group. This practical method revealed good results for yield, reaction time, and quick isolation of products.

In this study, new cobalt phthalocyanine containing a 2-(2-benzothiazolylthio)ethoxy group at peripheral positions has been synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic methods (IR, UV-Vis elemental analysis, and mass spectroscopies). Catalytic activity of Co(II) phthalocyanine has been investigated in the presence of oxidants such as tert-buthylhydroperoxide, m-chloroperoxybenzoic acid, and H2 O2 . Co(II) phthalocyanine shows catalytically activity and product conversion under mild conditions.

Novel compounds based on the 1,2,4-triazole skeleton were synthesized. A class of 4-amino-5-alkyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3- thione created by reaction of thiocarbohydrazide with long-chain aliphatic carboxylic acids, and then the Schiff bases were obtained in the media of heat and microwave waves, in the presence and the absence of a catalyst. Twenty-five new hydroxy- and methoxy-substituted 4,6-diarylpyrimidin-2(1H)-ol (20–34) and 4,6-diarylpyrimidine-2(1H)-thiol derivatives (35–44) were synthesized from the reaction of the corresponding 1,3-diaryl-2-propene-1- one compounds (1–19) with urea or thiourea using the solid-phase microwave method. All the new synthetic compounds (20–44) were evaluated with regard to their α-glucosidase activity. However, only compounds 22–25, 27, 31, 34, 35, 37, and 40 exhibited a greater inhibitory effect than standard acarbose. The IC50 values of the active compounds ranged between 2.36 and 13.

A fast and efficient method for the synthesis of naphthopyranopyrimidinones derivatives in excellent yields was developed through cyclocondensation reaction between previously prepared pyrimidinic hydrazides and some electrophilic species such as 2,4-pentanedione, 2,5-hexanedione, cyclic anhydrides, and phenylthioisocyanate under microwave irradiation. Compared to the conventional methods applied, it was found that better yields and shorter reaction times were achieved using microwave-assisted synthesis.

Microwave irradiation has been used to improve the one-pot synthesis of substituted 2-amino-4,6-diarylnicotinonitrile in the presence of boric acid as an efficient and green catalyst under solvent-free conditions within 48–60s. All the analogs that have not been reported previously were characterized by their melting points, IR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectra. One of the structures was verified by the analysis of a single crystal. The reported synthetic procedure provided remarkable advantages such as short reaction times, excellent yield, facile workup, and the use of a green catalyst.

Zeolite Cs-ABW nanocatalyst has been hydrothermally synthesized without using any harmful organic template. The zeolite nanocrystal with very high solid yield (81.88%) can be obtained within 60 min and at 180°C (~20 atm), conditions that are much faster and gentler than the existing synthesis methods. The orthorhombic Cs-ABW nanocrystals (mean size of 32 nm) have high aluminum content (Si/Al ratio = 1.14) and possess high basicity.

Cancer is one of the main global health problems. In order to develop novel antitumor agents, we synthesized 3,4-dihydropyrimidine-2(1H)-one (DHPM) and 2,6-diaryl-substituted pyridine derivatives as potential antitumor structures and evaluated their cytotoxic effects against several cancer cell lines. An easy and convenient method is reported for the synthesis of these derivatives, employing cobalt ferrite (CoFe 2 O4 @SiO2 -SO3 H) magnetic nanoparticles under microwave irradiation and solvent-free conditions.
