Milch and dairy farm

India holds a reputable position in terms of milk production and number of milch animals throughout the world. The real question arises when the quality of this milk and milk products is adjudged as not-suitable for export from India to many countries. The quality of milk has direct relationship with the knowledge on animal husbandry and dairy business-related practices amongst marginal as well as commercial milch animal farm owners.

There is large scope to increase milk production of milch animals because they are poorly maintained on small farms. Adequate management, feedings, health care practices, and improved breeds are not available to marginal and small farmers.

The present study was planned to evaluate the labour utilization pattern in management of various categories of cattle on different dairy farms. The study was conducted from 16th November, 2015 to 13th February, 2016 at SKN COA, dairy farm, Jobner. The observations for the daily routine work on the farm (excluding milking operations) were recorded for a period of 90 days. Milking operations were observed and noted for a period of 60 days, during the above duration.

The present study was conducted to ascertain the socio economic personal antecedents of the dairy farmers of Jaipur district of Rajasthan. There are total thirteen tehsils in Jaipur district, out of which four tehsils Viratnagar, Shahpura, Chmou and Phulera were randomly selected. Five villages from each tehsil were also randomly selected. For selection of respondent’s twelve farmers who possess at least 5 milch (dairy) animals either cattle or buffalo and both practicing dairy farming were selected randomly from each village as respondents for the study.
