Autologous stem-cell transplantation (ASCT) remains a beneficial approach for patients with newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) in the age of novel therapeutic agents. Nevertheless, limited real-world data is available to establish criteria for identifying high-risk ASCT patients.

Prompt response to induction chemotherapy is a prognostic factor in pediatric acute myeloid leukemia. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the prognostic significance of multiparametric fow cytometry-minimal residual disease (MFC-MRD), assessed at the end of the first and second induction courses.

Progress in sensitive analytical approaches has opened new avenues for the detection of cells or products such as circulating cell-free DNA released by tumors. These ‘liquid biopsies’ are being explored in clinical trials for early cancer detection, prediction of recurrent disease, and assessment of therapeutic resistance mechanisms.

Circulating tumor (ct) DNA is a powerful tool that can be used to track cancer beyond a single snapshot in space and time. It has potential applications in detecting minimal residual disease and predicting relapse, in selecting patients for tailored treatments, and in revealing mechanisms of response or resistance. Here, we discuss the incorporation of ctDNA into clinical trials.

The KMT2A gene, formerly named the MLL gene, is rearranged (KMT2Ar) in 70–75% of infants, 5–6% of children and 10–15% of adult patients with B cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). The outcome after chemotherapy of pediatric cases remains poor, and only a few studies have investigated the clinical and laboratory features, treatment response and prognosis in Chinese populations.

The risk of recurrence after resection of a stage II or III colon cancer, and therefore qualification for adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT), is traditionally based on clinicopathological parameters. However, the parameters used in clinical practice are not able to accurately identify all patients with or without minimal residual disease.

Multiple myeloma remains an incurable disease with multiple relapses due to residual myeloma cells in the bone marrow of patients after therapy. Presence of small number of cancer cells in the body after cancer treatment, called minimal residual disease, has been shown to be prognostic for progression-free and overall survival.

Acute promyelocytic leukaemia (APL) is a unique subtype of acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) characterized by haematopoietic failure caused by the accumulation of abnormal promyelocytic cells in bone marrow (BM).

The mixed-lineage leukemia (MLL) gene is located on chromosome 11q23. The MLL gene can be rear‑ ranged to generate partial tandem duplications (MLL-PTD), which occurs in about 5-10% of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) with a normal karyotype and in 5-6% of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) patients. Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) is currently one of the curative therapies available for AML and MDS with excess blasts (MDS-EB).

ABL-class and JAK-STAT signaling pathway activating alterations have been associated with both a poor post-induction minimal residual disease (MRD) response and an inferior outcome in B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). However, in most of the studies patients received non-uniform treatment.

Mantle Cell Lymphoma (MCL) is a B cell aggressive neoplasia accounting for about the 6% of all lymphomas. The most common molecular marker of clonality in MCL, as in other B lymphoproliferative disorders, is the ImmunoGlobulin Heavy chain (IGH) rearrangement, occurring in B-lymphocytes.

India leads the world in banana production, producing around 18% of the worldwide crop of 139 million metric tonnes. In spite of this, its exports are minimal for various reasons. External appearance, internal and market quality of bananas are influenced by several factors, including production practices. Banana bunch cover is a physical protection method which will improves the visual quality of fruit by promoting skin colouration and reducing blemishes, but can also change the micro-environment for fruit development, which can have several beneficial effects on internal fruit quality.

Mixed phenotype acute leukemias (MPAL) include acute leukemias with blasts that express antigens of more than one lineage, with no clear evidence of myeloid or lymphoid lineage differentiation. Detailed molecular cytogenetic characterization of the complex rearrangement in the reported T/My MPAL case allowed us to observe ADAMTS2 gene overexpression, identifying a molecular marker that may be useful for monitoring minimal residual disease.

In the analysis of survival data for cancer patients, the problem of competing risks is often ignored. Competing risks have been recognized as a special case of time-to-event analysis. The conventional techniques for time-to-event analysis applied in the presence of competing risks often give biased or uninterpretable results.

Accurate detection of patients with minimal residual disease (MRD) after surgery for stage II colon cancer (CC) remains an urgent unmet clinical need to improve selection of patients who might benefit form adjuvant chemotherapy (ACT). Presence of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) is indicative for MRD and has high predictive value for recurrent disease.

Risk stratification and prognosis prediction of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) are largely dependent on pre-treatment information. However, post-treatment data also provides much useful information. In this retrospective study, we explored whether the level of blood count recovery before and after the first minimal residual disease (MRD) negative complete remission (CR) is relevant to clinical outcomes of AML patients.
