This work focuses on the free vibration of the functionally graded porous (FGP) sandwich microplates using the isogeometric approach (IGA). The FGP sandwich plate comprises the homogeneous core and the FG porous face sheets. The material properties of the FGP face sheets are supposed to vary through the thickness direction according to the power-law function and modified rule of a mixture of the volume fraction with three different types of porosity distribution: homogeneous porous, X porous and V porous distributions.

Large deflections of functionally graded carbon nanotube-reinforced composite (FG-CNTRC) sandwich beams are studied in this paper by a nonlinear finite element procedure. The core of the beams is homogeneous while the two faces are of CNTRC material. The effective properties of the two CNTRC face sheets are determined by an extended rule of mixture. CNTs are reinforced into matrix phase through uniform distribution (UD) or four different types of functionally graded (FG) distribution, named as FG-X, FG-A, FG-V, FG-O.

The results showed that (1) the dominant species in the three forest types had a species mingling degree ranging from medium to complete mixture; (2) the target trees were found to have a dominant height compared to their nearest neighbors; (3) the distribution patterns of trees in the stands varied from regular to clumped; and (4) the crowding index indicated a distribution density of trees from sparse to dense.

In paper "Mixture of Erlang and exponential approximation for ultimate ruin probability", we investigate the mixture of Erlang and exponential approximation based on the first three moments and the matrix-exponential representation of mixed Erlang and exponential functions. Besides, a number of numerical examples are given to illustrate the quick convergence of the method in the cases of the first three moments of uniform distribution on . Moreover to illustrate this method, a numerical example is given with different initial reserves of insurance company.

This report presents an analytical approach to the natural frequency analysis of a porous beam consisting of a host porous layer reinforced with graphene platelets (GPLs), namely GPL-reinforced porous core, and two piezoelectric outer layers. In the modelling, symmetric distributions of both porosity and GPLs in the core are supposed. The effective mechanical properties of the GPL-reinforced porous core are estimated by Halpin–Tsai model and the rule of mixture.

In this paper, we propose a novel method to effectively detect GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems) spoofing signals. Our approach utilizes mixtures of Gaussian distributions to model the Carrier Phase’s Double Difference (DD) produced by two separated receivers.

A statistical approach for identifying differential distributions in single-cell RNA-seq experiments
The ability to quantify cellular heterogeneity is a major advantage of single-cell technologies. However, statistical methods often treat cellular heterogeneity as a nuisance. We present a novel method to characterize differences in expression in the presence of distinct expression states within and among biological conditions.

An analytical investigation on the buckling and postbuckling behavior of carbon nanotube reinforced composite (CNTRC) sandwich cylindrical panels exposed to thermal environments and subjected to uniform axial compression is presented in this paper. Beside sandwich model with CNTRC face sheets in the literature, the present work suggests a sandwich model with CNTRC core layer and homogeneous face sheets. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are reinforced into matrix phase through uniform or functionally graded distributions.

Amorphous lithium niobate (LiNbO3) films were deposited onto silicon substrates by the radiofrequency magnetron sputtering method in a pure Ar environment and an Ar þ O2 gas mixture with various oxygen contents. The oxide charge existing in as-grown films has two components: the positive Qox distributed in the bulk of a film and the negative Qox located at the film/substrate interface with a maximum magnitude corresponding to an Ar (80) O2 (20) gas mixture.

Biological data often originate from samples containing mixtures of subpopulations, corresponding e.g. to distinct cellular phenotypes. However, identification of distinct subpopulations may be difficult if biological measurements yield distributions that are not easily separable.

Recently, with the access of low toxicity biological and targeted therapies, evidence of the existence of a long-term survival subpopulation of cancer patients is appearing. We have studied an unselected population with advanced lung cancer to look for evidence of multimodality in survival distribution, and estimate the proportion of long-term survivors.

Twenty four female KF calves were selected and distributed randomly into 4 groups of 6 animals each based on their body weight and age in a randomised block design (RBD). In group T1, the concentrate mixture consisted of mineral mixture without iodine. The animals in group T2 and T3 were supplemented with iodine at 0.25 and 0.5 ppm of dietary DM while in group T4, 4 micronutrients i.e. chromium, niacin, vitamin E and Zn were supplemented @ 1.5, 600 40 and 40 ppm, respectively for 150 days.
