  • Water deficit stress is one of the important factors limiting chickpea production in arid and semiarid regions. Water deficit induced b Polyethylene glycol (PEG) affect physiological and biochemical changes in Chickpea. This investigation was undertaken to evaluate morpho-physiological parameters, levels of osmolytes and activities of antioxidative enzymes under PEG 6000 induced osmotic moderate and severe stress in pot. The plants were subjected to two progressive stresses: moderate (-0.4 MPa) and severe stress (-1.2 MPa).

  • The present study was aimed to evaluate the mineral metabolism and oxidative pathobiology of lice infestation in buffaloes. Forty-eight buffaloes were divided into four groups; Sucking lice (Hematopinus tuberculatus) infested-mild (Group 1, n=12), moderate (Group 2, n=12), severe (Group 3, n=12) and healthy control (Group 4, n=12). Lice infested animals (Group 1, 2 and 3) animals were treated with a single dose ivermectin subcutaneously at 200 µg/kg body weight and healthy control group were treated with 7 mL of distilled water subcutaneously as placebo therapy.

  • The aim of the present study was to investigate the oxidative pathobiology of bubaline pediculosis and its alleviation through the commonly used two antioxidants as an supportive therapy (N- acetyl cysteine and vitamin C). Twenty four Indian dairy buffaloes with severe bubaline pediculosis were allotted to the three groups (Group 1, 2 and 3).

  • Arabidopsis AtHB7 and AtHB12 transcription factors (TFs) belong to the homeodomain-leucine zipper subfamily I (HD-Zip I) and present 62% amino acid identity. These TFs have been associated with the control of plant development and abiotic stress responses; however, at present it is not completely understood how AtHB7 and AtHB12 regulate these processes.

  • Seventy five maize genotypes were evaluated to study the genetic divergence under two drought stress conditions i.e. moderate stress and severe stress along with well watered conditions. The experiment was carried out at Maize Research Centre, Rajendranagar, Hyderabad, during rabi 2011-12. The seventy five genotypes were grouped into nine distinct clusters. The cluster VII, cluster VIII and cluster VII were the largest and lowest genotypes were included in cluster II, cluster V and clusters V and IX under normal, moderate drought stress and severe drought stress conditions, respectively.

  • The research results show that the vulnerability index of the Dong Nai River basin in the province of Lam Dong is also spatially differentiated and in general, the value of the vulnerability index is at a moderate level (VI = 0.23). It is observed that the Vulnerability Index for the Dong Nai - Lam Dong River basin comes mainly from management challenges, followed by stresses due to resource use, pressure from development. Assessing the vulnerability of basin water resources is the basis for scientists to devise appropriate management solutions towards sustainable development.

  • A pot culture experiment was conducted at ICAR-IISWC, Ballari, Karnataka during 2016 to screen seven paddy genotypes receiving zinc fertilization for their zinc use efficiency under various moisture regimes. The experiment was laid out in a completely randomized design with two replications. At 30 days after transplanting (DAT), the plant height in M2 treatment (Saturated Soil Culture) was higher which was at par with the continuous flooding (M1) and was significantly different with the Alternate Wetting and Drying (M3). The genotype NLR 34449 produced significantly taller plants (23.

  • Maize is an economically important crop and also a major shareholder in the global food bowl. The queen of cereals is widely cultivated across varied topography. Climate change and its related water stress are on the increase, reducing the yield potential of maize. The experiment with PEG-6000 was carried out in a completely randomized block design with two replications for twenty maize hybrids. The concentrations of PEG-6000 taken for study were 0%, 10% and 20%.

  • The same amount of water has been present on our planet for about 4 billion years, since shortly after the Earth was formed. Since then it has cycled through evaporation, condensation, precipitation and surface runoff multiple times. Water scarcity as an abiotic factor ranging from moderate to severe stress levels, accompanied by loss of moisture in the soil, is extremely hard for most organisms to cope with, particularly terrestrial plants and their food-chain dependents.
