Molecular imprinting polymers

A magnetic molecularly imprinted electrochemical sensor was developed for selective determination of sufentanil (SUF) based on carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with methacrylic acid-ethylene glycol dimethacrylate-coated Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4@MAA-EGDMA NPs). The structural properties, chemical structure, and electrochemical behaviors of the imprinted sensor were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and square wave voltammetry (SWV), respectively.

Ebook "Molecularly imprinted polymers in biotechnology" has stimulated the development of synthetic materials that can be designed to have tailor-made molecular selectivity. Molecular imprinting, a synthetic technique that uses molecular templates to create selective binding sites in cross-linked polymers, has become one of the most efficient methods for preparation of selective recognition materials.

Ketoprofen (KET) is an active pharmaceutical compound that has pain relieving and antipyretic effects. Its determination in body fluids and environmental waters is important due to widespread use of the compound. In this study, a selective and reliable method has been developed for the determination of ketoprofen in water and artificial serum using molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) as a solid phase extraction sorbent prior to HPLC-DAD detection.

For the first time a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP)-based sensor for tyrosinase is described. This sensor is based on the electropolymerization of scopoletin or o-phenylenediamine in the presence of tyrosinase from mushrooms, which has a high homology to the human enzyme. The template was removed either by treatment with proteinase K or by alkaline treatment. The measuring signal was generated either by measuring the formation of a product by the target enzyme or by evaluation of the permeability of the redox marker ferricyanide.

In this research, molecular imprinting polymers (MIPs) for D-arabinitol were synthesized using a bulk polymerization method through a noncovalent approach. The MIPs were prepared by using D-arabinitol as a template, acrylamide as a functional monomer, ethylene glycol dimethacrylateas cross-linker, benzoyl peroxide as an initiator and dimethyl sulfoxideas a porogen. MIPS was synthesized in several formulas with a different molar ratio of template to functional monomers and cross-linker.

In this paper, magnetic-molecularly imprinted polymer was used for the preconcentration of trace levels of imidacloprid in water and apple samples prior to liquid chromatography-quadrupole-time-of-flight mass spectrometric determination. The selectivity of the magnetic polymer was united with the sensitivity and the high resolving power of the chromatographic system. The developed method showed a linear range from 10.0 to 500.0 µg/L. The quantitative recoveries were obtained for water and apple samples in the range of 92.0%–99.0 %.

17-Estradiol (E2) residues in food with concentration range even as low as 1-10 pM can cause serious diseases such as early puberty in children and can also increase the risk of ovarian and breast cancer in women. In this work, we report on the development and optimization of an impedimetric sensor for high sensitive detection of E2 based on Molecularly Imprinted Polymer (MIP). The MIP layer was synthesized via electro-polymerization by cyclic voltammetry onto gold nanoparticles (AuNPs)-modified screen printed carbon ink electrode (SPCE).

A critical appraisal of the current strategies for the synthesis of enantiopure drugs is presented, along with a systematic background for the computational design of stereoselective porous polymers. These materials aim to achieve the enantiomeric excess of any chiral drug, avoiding the racemic separation.
