Tropical cyclones (TCs) frequently occurs and result in substantial socio-economic consequences for the countries around the East Sea. In this study, the Joint Typhoon Warning Center (JTWC) best tracks and the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data are employed to investigate the effect of jetstream on the seasonal variations of the TC tracks. The results reveal four primary directions of the tracks: northeastward, northwestward, westward and southwestward.

Saline intrusion is one of the most frequently occurring natural disasters in a coastal area, posing the most serious impact in the Vietnamese Mekong Delta (MD). With the characteristics of the region as an open and low system, located at the end of the Mekong River basin and part of the Vam Co River system, this region is strongly affected by the tidal regime, and therefore saline intrusion is a feature of the region and has become familiar to the people living here in the dry season.

Summer monsoon is marked by drastic changes from dry season to rainy season, providing a significant amount of rainfall in many regions. The changes of the onset and retreat of summer monsoon and extreme rainfall phenomena lead to the changes in water resources which directly significantly affect agriculture, forestry, fishing, farming, and traffic…

Mangrove forests are intertidal wetlands and found along tropical, subtropical, and warm-temperate coastlines. They also offer valuable ecosystem services. However, mangrove forests are especially vulnerable as typhoons frequently hit during the monsoon season and under driving human pressures.

Lecture Introduction to civil and environmental engineering (CE 107): Chapter 7 after studying this section will help you understand: Rain-fed floods generally happen in the deltas in the southwestern part of the country and are increasing in low-lying urban areas. River floods are the most common; the areas are inundated during monsoon season along the river and in cases far beyond the riverbanks.

The knowledge and information on the rainfall dynamics and its distribution over the cropping season are very important for selection of crop varieties and choice of cropping pattern. Block wise historical rainfall data of 24 years (1995 to 2018) of Cuttack District were collected and processed by using Weather cock software to estimate annual, seasonal and monthly rainfall. The analysis of rainfall revealed that the total mean annual rainfall of the district is 1597 mm.

The present study was made to find out the health status of a wetland Rajar Beel, North 24 Parganas, West Bengal, India in relation to physicochemical properties of water. This wetland is rich in aquatic biodiversity. The study focused on the seasonal fluctuation of physicochemical parameters of water and diversity of fish fauna during pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon during March 2019 to February 2020.

In this study the hydrochemical characteristics of the Manchalapur tank water or lake was analysed for its suitability for domestic, fish rearing and irrigation purposes. A total of 10 water samples each were drawn from the inlet, outlet and two other locations in the water spread area of the tank and analysed for TDS, pH, EC, BOD5, COD, major ions, detergent and pathogen contamination in three distinct seasons, viz. pre-monsoon, monsoon and post-monsoon, based on standard methods.

The aim of the present study is to analysis rainfall time series, detecting potential trends and assessing their significance. The present study shows the increase in southwest monsoon rainfall and decline in post monsoon rainfall for all the districts of south Gujarat. Similarly annual rainfall Navsari and Bharuch districts reveals decline, but at Dang, Valsad and Surat acknowledges increasing rainfall pattern on most of decades.

Green fodder supplementation is the best way to reduce the cost of production in livestock farming. The expenditure on concentrate feed will be curtail by feeding of legume fodder. Urbanization reduces the land area for fodder production and also the failure in monsoon urges the farmers to go for fodder production under agroforestry models. Calopogonium mucunoides is a fodder legume with high quality protein and grows fast and remain productive during dry seasons.

A study was carried out to assess the physico-chemical characteristics of ground water with special emphasis on fluoride in parts of Nalgonda district, Telangana State. The water samples were collected from the tube wells located in 82 selected villages in three mandals during pre and post-monsoon seasons. The ground water samples in the study area interpreted as neutral to slightly alkaline in reaction, non-saline in nature.

Groundwater (GW) trend analysis provides an early warning system for changes in water table caused by climatic conditions or in response to human activities such as water withdrawal. This analysis investigates the pattern and trends of the seasonal groundwater level data of Arpa River Basin in Bilaspur district, Chhattisgarh for the period from 1984 to 2015. A study was under taken for identifying the trends in pre- and post-monsoon groundwater levels using non parametric Mann-Kendall test and Sen's slope estimator for time series modelling and forecasting of pre- and postmonsoon groundwater.

The GKVK campus is located in the northern part of Bangalore, Karnataka (India) comprising 1380 acres land area receives ~994.5 mm average rain fall and receives fairly good rain during monsoon. The climatic condition and soil are congenial for growth and development of different species of mushrooms. A variety of mushrooms belong edible, poisonous and medicinal species can be seen during rainy season. In this study, twenty one different mushroom species were collected during rainy season (July to October, 2014) and identified by Internal Transcribed Sequence (ITS) homology.

Accelerated exploitation of oil and gas resources planned and implemented by ONGC and BGEIPL in west coast offshore region would result into stress particularly on marine environment. The long term physical, chemical and biological changes due to routine discharges from offshore installations can best be assessed through a study on accumulation of hydrocarbons and heavy metals in fishes, plankton and sediments which together form biotic and abiotic components of marine environment.

The purpose of this study was to assess seasonal variations in bacterial community composition in Tapi River. Samples from three selected sites along the Tapi River stretch were collected and analyzed for various physico-chemical properties as well as microbial load and composition of bacterial communities. The number of total viable counts as well as bacterial isolation and identification were done by using Bergey’s Manual of Determinative Bacteriology.

Brown spot caused by (Bipolaris oryzae) is a persistent disease of Paddy (Oryza sativa L.) and associated with reduction in economic yield in the areas under dry and semi dry climate, with the nutrient poor field. Part of the paddy area under cultivation is salt affected in India, having longer water stagnation capacity, though having deficiency of organic matter and other essential nutrient, where during monsoon season only paddy is grown.
