The methylation of SHOX2 and RASSF1A shows promise as a potential biomarker for the early screening of lung cancer, offering a solution to remedy the limitations of morphological diagnosis. The aim of this study is to diagnose lung adenocarcinoma by measuring the methylation levels of SHOX2 and RASSF1A, and provide an accurate pathological diagnosis to predict the invasiveness of lung cancer prior to surgery.

An investigation of trends of incidence and net survival (NS) for endometrial cancer in Sweden. Methods Morphologically verified endometrial carcinoma diagnosed 1960 to 2014 were collected from the nationwide Swedish Cancer Registry. Endometrial cancer patients were assessed with regards to time trends for incidence and 54,825 cases remained for survival analyses.

Achillea alimeana Semiz & Uysal sp. nov. of sect. Santolinoidea DC. (Asteraceae), was described, diagnosed and illustrated as a new species. It was collected from Akdağ Mountains in Denizli Province. In this paper, the diagnostic characters of A. alimeana and its similar species were discussed in the morphological, palynological and molecular findings. As regards the new species, some notes on the ecology, conservation status, and distribution were submitted. A diagnostic key was given for related taxa.

Synchronous multifocal lung cancer (SMLC) is diagnosed with increasing frequency in clinical practice globally. Due to innate variation in clinical management and outcome, it is vital to properly distinguish between synchronous multifocal primary lung cancer (SMPLC) and intrapulmonary metastasis (IM).

One of the reported goals of hip preservation surgery is to prevent or delay the onset of osteoarthritis. This includes arthroscopic surgery to manage Femoroacetabular Impingement (FAI) Syndrome. The purpose of this study was to describe the prevalence of clinically-diagnosed hip OA within 2 years after hip arthroscopy for FAI syndrome, and 2) determine which variables predict a clinical diagnosis of OA after arthroscopy.

The microscopic characteristics of dorsal guard hairs of Hyaena hyaena were examined using optical light microscope to know its hair morphology. The hair of H. hyaena is diagnosed by its unique medullary characteristics i.e. the composition of medulla- ‘unicellular regular’, structure of medulla- ‘simple or narrow medulla lattice’ and the ‘oblong’ shape cross-section. The photo-micrographs and characteristics of dorsal guard hairs are presented here may be used for the species identification.

The aim of this study was to determine the feasibility, accuracy and diagnostic potential of combined static-excretory MR Urography in children with sonographically detected hydronephrosis. We prospectively evaluated 28 children (11 girls and 17 boys), mean age 8.3 years (range 2 months–16 years). Static-excretory MR Urography was performed in all cases. The results of MR Urography were compared with the results of other imaging modalities, cystoscopy and surgery. In 28 children, 61 renal units were evaluated by MR Urography (the renal unit is the kidney and its draining ureter).

The health professional should use this booklet as a tool in diagnosing an individual’s signs and symptoms that could be related to an indoor air pollution problem. The document is organized according to pollutant or pollutant group. Key signs and symptoms from exposure to the pollutant(s) are listed, with diagnostic leads to help determine the cause of the health problem. A quick reference summary of this information is included in this booklet (pg. 3). Remedial action is suggested, with comment providing more detailed information in each section.

All HIV seronegative smear positive TB patients received category I regimen while the smear negative patients were treated with the category III regimens as per the guidelines of the RNTCP. The patients were treated with an initial intensive phase lasting for 2 months followed by a continuation phase, which lasted for 4 months. In the intensive phase, three to four anti-TB drugs were administered thrice weekly depending on the category of treatment prescribed; all the thrice weekly doses were given under direct observation.

In general, the health status at old age has an important individual and social relevance. The vulnerability is increasing by physiological and morphological changes in the organism and central nervous system during the ageing process. The indicators of physiological health are based on prevalence of disabilities and causes of death. In Germany the main causes of death are circulatory diseases, neoplasms, diseases of respiratory system and diseases of digestive system (Statistisches Bundesamt 2007a; Nolte, Shkolinikov & McKee 2000).

This is a fully revised and updated edition of the major work that teaches health professionals to utilize the 12-lead ECG in daily clinical practice. It deals with the analysis of the morphology of ECG waveforms in order to diagnose many conditions not related to rhythm, including ischemia, acute myocardial infarction, and hypertrophy of the heart muscle. Almost all other texts of morphologic interpretation for non-cardiologists rely heavily on memorizing electrocardiographic patterns.

Immunophenotype and Relevance to the WHO Classification The immunophenotype of human leukemia cells can be studied by multiparameter flow cytometry after the cells are labeled with monoclonal antibodies to cell-surface antigens. This can be important for separating AML from acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and identifying some types of AML. For example, AML that is minimally differentiated (immature morphology and no lineage-specific cytochemical reactions) is diagnosed by flow-cytometric demonstration of the myeloid-specific antigens cluster designation (CD) 13 or 33.
