  • Micromorphological characteristics of 13 Trifolium species, which are grown in the province of Bolu, were examined using a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The morphological characteristics determined from the study were subjected to morphometric analyses and their variation spectrums were defined. Tricolporate pollen grains showed two pollen shapes, prolate and subprolate, according to equatorial view. The smallest size of polar axis length (18.00 μm) was found in T. micranthum Viv. from section Chronosemium Ser.; the largest (88.95 μm) was found in T. hirtum All.

  • The study aimed to investigate morphometric and meristic variability in the mud sleeper Butis koilomatodon (Bleeker, 1849) in the Mekong Delta. This species is a commercial fish species with a small-size and is mainly distributed in some coastal areas from Tra Vinh to Ca Mau provinces. In the present research, the parameters of morphometry and measurement, including the head length, body depth, eye diameter, distance of the two eyes, and the interrelationships among the morphometric variables, were determined.

  • During the present study, mitotic chromosomes of two freshwater snails Gyraulus ladacensis and Indoplanorbis exustus were analyzed using ovotestis of specimens collected from the type locality (Nud pond Samba, Jammu), both belonging to class Gastropoda, order Basommatophora and family Planorbidae. The observed diploid chromosome number was 2n=36 consisting of 14 metacentric pairs, 03 submetacentric pairs and 01 subtelocentric pairs and 18 pairs of metacentric pairs respectively. Meiotic observations comprised leptotene, zygotene, pachytene, diplotene and diakinesis stages.

  • Plant parasitic nematodes (Tylenchida: Nematoda) found on sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) growing in the Mediterranean region of Turkey were examined faunistically and taxonomically. This study was carried out in two provinces (Antalya and içel) important for the cultivation of sesame during the summer of 1998.
