Ebook "Scaling and uncertainty analysis in ecology: Methods and applications" draws together a series of important case studies to provide a comprehensive review and synthesis of the most recent concepts, theories and methods in scaling and uncertainty analysis. It compares current definitions and ideas concerning scale within a coherent framework, and examines two key scaling approaches: similarity-based scaling, which is rooted in the idea of similitude or self-similarity; and dynamic model-based scaling, which emphasizes processes and mechanisms.

Unskilled birth attendance is a major public health concern in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Existing studies are hardly focused on the socio-demographic correlates and geospatial distribution of unskilled birth attendance in Chad (a country in SSA), although the country has consistently been identified as having one of the highest prevalence of maternal and neonatal deaths in the world.

In this research, a new space vector modulation control algorithm is proposed to increase the reliability and the accuracy of the cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverters in case of faulty situations where one or several power cells do not function. When one or more switches of a cell are opened or shorted, that cell is considered faulty. By giving a detailed analysis on the impact of the faulty power cells on the voltage space vectors, the inapplicable voltage vectors are removed precisely.
