Visco-elastic damping is one of the passive control methods in structural vibration. Multilayer visco-elastic patch is preferred due to high level of damping and easy implementation. In order to obtain an economical design, many objectives must be considered and this concept leads to solving multi-objective optimization problem.

The paper deals with the non-destructive evaluation of the airgap existing between parts in loose metallic assemblies, using the eddy current (EC) method. In this study, the relationship between the variations of the impedance of a ferrite-cored coil sensor and an assembly featuring two aluminum plates is analyzed.

This paper introduces a method for estimating the maximum depth (sub-millimeter) of minor cracks on the surface of aluminum plates used in the aeronautical industry. A set of C-scan eddy current (EC) images, including real and imaginary parts of the impedance, is analyzed to extract suitable features after reducing noise effects, such as background noises and edge noises.

Highly tensile manganese steel is in great demand owing to its high tensile strength under shock loads. All workpieces are produced through casting, because it is highly difficult to machine. The probabilistic aspects of its casting, its variable composition, and the different casting techniques must all be considered for the optimisation of its mechanical properties. A hybrid strategy is therefore proposed which combines decision trees and artificial neural networks (ANNs) for accurate and reliable prediction models for ore crushing plate lifetimes.

This paper addresses the strength and deformation capacity of slender columns retrofitted by externally bonded Carbon Fiber-Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) subjected to seismic loading. The behaviour of RC columns depending on the CFRP confinement (carbon CFRP jacket) and on flexural reinforcement (carbon plates) was analysed by a nonlinear finite element method based on multilayer shell element and multifiber beams with plasticity and damage models.

This paper presents some results in studying the static and dynamic problems of multilayered composite plates, of which individual layer is made of unidirectional composite material. Calculations are based on the technical theory of laminar plates combined with using finite element method.

This paper deals with the analysis of non-linaer multilayered reinforced composite plates with simply supported along its four edges by Bubnov - Galerkin and Finite Element Methods.
