This paper aims to find the leading determinants of SMEs’ of Bangladesh that can create sustainability and long-term success for the organizations. In this paper, fifty (50) scholarly articles have been reviewed and ‘qualitative content analysis’ and ‘thematic analysis’ have taken place based on ontological and methodological paradigm approach with multiple case studies. Meanwhile, three cases have been analyzed where the participants’ gave in-depth interview about their SMEs’ and distinct leading determinants.

Healthcare organizations use research data models supported by projects and tools that interest them, which often means organizations must support the same data in multiple models. The healthcare research ecosystem would benefit if tools and projects could be adopted independently from the underlying data model.

Transgenic poplar (Populus × euramericana ‘Guariento’) plants harboring five exogenous, stress-related genes exhibit increased tolerance to multiple stresses including drought, salt, waterlogging, and insect feeding, but the complex mechanisms underlying stress tolerance in these plants have not been elucidated.

Biologists are elucidating complex collections of genetic regulatory data for multiple organisms. Software is needed for such regulatory network data. Results: The Pathway Tools software supports storage and manipulation of regulatory information through a variety of strategies. The Pathway Tools regulation ontology captures transcriptional and translational regulation, substrate-level regulation of enzyme activity, post-translational modifications, and regulatory pathways.

Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis remains one of the most common methods for hypothesis generation from high throughput datasets. However, we believe that researchers strive to test other hypotheses that fall outside of GO. Here, we developed and evaluated a tool for hypothesis generation from gene or protein lists using ontological concepts present in manually curated text that describes those genes and proteins.

Ontologies and catalogs of gene functions, such as the Gene Ontology (GO) and MIPS-FUN, assume that functional classes are organized hierarchically, that is, general functions include more specific ones. This has recently motivated the development of several machine learning algorithms for gene function prediction that leverages on this hierarchical organization where instances may belong to multiple classes.

Gene set testing has become an important analysis technique in high throughput microarray and next generation sequencing studies for uncovering patterns of differential expression of various biological processes. Often, the large number of gene sets that are tested simultaneously require some sort of multiplicity correction to account for the multiplicity effect.

Protein function prediction is to assign biological or biochemical functions to proteins, and it is a challenging computational problem characterized by several factors: (1) the number of function labels (annotations) is large; (2) a protein may be associated with multiple labels; (3) the function labels are structured in a hierarchy; and (4) the labels are incomplete.

High-throughput technologies such as ChIP-sequencing, RNA-sequencing, DNA sequencing and quantitative metabolomics generate a huge volume of data. Researchers often rely on functional enrichment tools to interpret the biological significance of the affected genes from these high-throughput studies.

Regulation mechanisms between miRNAs and genes are complicated. To accomplish a biological function, a miRNA may regulate multiple target genes, and similarly a target gene may be regulated by multiple miRNAs. Wet-lab knowledge of co-regulating miRNAs is limited.

Testing predefined gene categories has become a common practice for scientists analyzing high throughput transcriptome data. A systematic way of testing gene categories leads to testing hundreds of null hypotheses that correspond to nodes in a directed acyclic graph.

Ontologies are invaluable in the life sciences, but building and maintaining ontologies often requires a challenging number of distinct tasks such as running automated reasoners and quality control checks, extracting dependencies and application-specific subsets, generating standard reports, and generating release files in multiple formats.

Chapter 10 - View integration and implementation compromises. One objective of this chapter is to explain how to unite the business process level REA models for multiple transaction cycles. A second objective is to explain implementation compromises commonly made at each step in conceptual modeling and database design. A final objective of this chapter is to demonstrate retrieval of information from multiple integrated business processes.

Often, there is a need to use the knowledge from multiple ontologies. This is particularly the case within the context of medical imaging, where a single ontology is not enough to provide the complementary knowledge about anatomy, radiology and diseases that is required by the related applications. Consequently, semantic integration of these different but related types of medical knowledge that is present in disparate domain ontologies becomes necessary. Medical ontology alignment addresses this need by identifying the semantically equivalent concepts across multiple medical ontologies. ...

Thesauri and ontologies provide important value in facilitating access to digital archives by representing underlying principles of organization. Translation of such resources into multiple languages is an important component for providing multilingual access. However, the specificity of vocabulary terms in most ontologies precludes fully-automated machine translation using general-domain lexical resources. In this paper, we present an efficient process for leveraging human translations when constructing domain-specific lexical resources.

This paper describes a series of experiments to test the hypothesis that the parallel application of multiple NLP tools and the integration of their results improves the correctness and robustness of the resulting analysis. It is shown how annotations created by seven NLP tools are mapped onto toolindependent descriptions that are defined with reference to an ontology of linguistic annotations, and how a majority vote and ontological consistency constraints can be used to integrate multiple alternative analyses of the same token in a consistent way. ...

In addition to explicitly named Properties, “code” and “id” attributes are special cases. Every entity in the Thésaurus – Concepts, Kinds, Properties, and Roles – has an associated “code” and “id.” These are used as unique identifiers in the Apelon development software, and, as such, are not defined explicitly as Roles or Properties. This required a hard-coded definition of both entities. They were defined as owl:AnnotationProperties, just like other Properties in the Thésaurus, and this allowed them to be attached to all of the definitions in the ontology.

The large size, heterogeneity, and distributed nature of networks give administrators a large number of degrees of freedom to consider when configuration changes need to be made. The proper functioning of the network as a whole is a result of the coordinated configuration of multiple network elements whose interaction gives rise to the desired behaviors. The number of options to consider and the complexity of the interactions and interdependencies between various protocols and applications make it a very hard task to reason about configuration changes.
