Acute pancreatitis (AP) is one of the most common gastrointestinalrelated causes of hospitalization in the USA, accounting for more than 200,000 admissions annually. Although mild and moderate cases usually improve within a week, severe AP conditions could lead to lifethreatening pancreatic necrosis, multiple-organ dysfunction, and be fatal in some cases.

Severe falciparum malaria is associated with multiple organ dysfunctions. The most manifestations of severe falciparum malaria are cerebral malaria, acute lung injury, and acute kidney injury. Acute colonic pseudo-obstruction is extremely rare. Early recognition and management are essential because a delay in diagnosis is associated with substantial morbidity and mortality.

Multitask learning (MTL) using electronic health records allows concurrent prediction of multiple endpoints. MTL has shown promise in improving model performance and training efficiency; however, it often suffers from negative transfer – impaired learning if tasks are not appropriately selected.

Several case series and small randomized controlled trials suggest that therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) improves coagulation, hemodynamics and possibly survival in severe sepsis. However, the exact role of TPE in modern sepsis therapy remains unclear.

In the recent years, an increasing number of patients with multiple comorbidities (e.g. coronary artery disease, diabetes, hypertension) presents to the operating room. The clinical risk factors are accompanied by underlying vascular-endothelial dysfunction, which impairs microcirculation and may predispose to end-organ dysfunction and impaired postoperative outcome.

Sepsis biomarkers have limited specificity and sensitivity. Few studies have investigated microRNA (miRNA) biomarkers for sepsis secondary to pneumonia. This study aims to investigate the diagnostic and prognostic values of miRNAs in sepsis secondary to pneumonia.

To evaluate the change of TNF-α, IL-6, IL-10 concentrations in patients with Gram-negative sepsis. Subjects and methods: 124 patients who were diagnosed with Gram-negative sepsis based on blood culture results at Military Hospital 103 and E Hospital. TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-10 concentration were quantified by ELISA technique at T0, T24.

Describe the outcome of adenovirus pneumonia in a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) over a 3-year period, to identify the risk factors that may be associated with worse outcome. A retrospective observational study was performed in the PICU of children’s hospital in Shanghai from July 2016 to June 2019.

Extensive myocardial calcification has a low incidence rate, but when the patients do have extensive myocardial cases, the prognosis is usually poor. Several sepsis-related extensive myocardial calcification cases have been reported, but there are cases of biventricular calcifications that are caused by multiple cases besides bacteremia and the treatment for it has a low percentage of success.

The mortality rate due to severe sepsis is approximately 30–60%. Sepsis readily progresses to septic shock and multiple organ dysfunction, representing a significant problem in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). The aim of this study was to explore the value of plasma mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) for early diagnosis and prognosis in children with sepsis.

Clinical assessment reveals that patients after surgery of cardiopulmonary bypass or coronary bypass experience postoperative cognitive dysfunction. This study aimed to investigate whether resuscitation after a hemorrhagic shock (HS) and/or mild cerebral ischemia caused by a unilateral common carotid artery occlusion (UCCAO) can cause brain injury and concomitant neurological dysfunction, and explore the potential mechanisms.

Atherosclerosis is one kind of chronic inflammatory disease, in which multiple types of immune cells or factors are involved. Data from experimental and clinical studies on atherosclerosis have confirmed the key roles of immune cells and inflammation in such process. The thymus as a key organ in T lymphocyte ontogenesis has an important role in optimizing immune system function throughout the life, and dysfunction of thymus has been proved to be associated with severity of atherosclerosis

Acute lung injury (ALI) is a primary component of multiple organ dysfunction syndromes triggered by intestinal ischemia-reperfusion (IIR) which results in high mortality. Existing treatment options remain unsatisfactory. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have shown considerable promise as a biological therapy for ALI in preclinical studies. However, there are many limitations to stem cell treatment.

The Securities and Exchange Commission has for many years been a strong leader in international efforts to develop a core set of accounting standards that could serve as a framework for financial reporting in cross-border offerings. It has repeatedly made the case that issuers wishing to raise capital in more than one country are faced with the increased compliance costs and inefficiencies of preparing multiple sets of financial statements to comply with different jurisdictional accounting requirements.
