Multiplication measures

In the multi-dimensional model of data warehouses, data drawn from multiple sources is organized into fact tables and dimension tables. Data cubes pre-compute the aggregations of measurements along combinations of dimensions to speed up the processing of Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) queries. When the underlying fact tables or dimension tables change over time, data cubes need to be incrementally maintained to reflect these changes. In this thesis, we study the problem of incrementally maintaining data cubes under slowly changing dimensions.

The purpose of the research "Habits and technology fit: a study of technology acceptance" is to study Habit-Technology Fit (HTF) as an approach to capture a dynamic mix of habits which are perceived as salient from the respondent’s perspective, and the effect of including it in the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT) model framework. The HTF construct and its measurement were developed in order to capture multiple non-predetermined habits. All measures were semantically validated with Q-Sorting exercises, and their reliability was statistically confirmed.

This paper presents a Bayesian approach based on integral experiments to create correlations which do not appear with differential data. Some quantities such as the fission cross section (s), neutron multiplicity (n¯p), neutron spectra (x), etc. are usually neither modeled together nor measured in coincidence, thus there is no correlation matrices in evaluated nuclear data libraries.

Hepcidin (H25) is a hormone peptide synthesized by the liver that binds to ferroportin and blocks iron export. In this study, H25 was inhibited by administration of single and multiple doses of an anti-H25 monoclonal antibody Ab 12B9m in cynomolgus monkeys. The objective of this analysis was to develop a pharmacodynamic model describing the role of H25 in regulating iron homeostasis and the impact of hepcidin inhibition by Ab 12B9m. Total serum H25 and Ab 12B9m were determined in each animal. Corresponding measurements of serum iron and hemoglobin (Hb) were obtained.

We demonstrate an information credibility analysis system called WISDOM. The purpose of WISDOM is to evaluate the credibility of information available on the Web from multiple viewpoints. WISDOM considers the following to be the source of information credibility: information contents, information senders, and information appearances. We aim at analyzing and organizing these measures on the basis of semantics-oriented natural language processing (NLP) techniques.

We used two inhibitors of the signaling enzyme phosphatidylinositol 3-kin-ase (PtdIns3K), wortmannin and LY294002, to evaluate the potential involvement of PtdIns3K in the activation of the MAP kinases (MAPK), Erk1 and Erk2. In dose–response studies carried out on six different cell lines and a primary cell culture, we analyzed the ability of the inhibitors to block phosphorylation of protein kinase B⁄akt (PKB⁄akt) at Ser473 as a measure of PtdIns3K activity, or the phosphorylation of Erk1⁄2 at activa-ting Thr⁄Tyr sites as a measure of the extent of activation of MAPK⁄Erk kinase (MEK⁄Erk).

The guanidinium chloride- and urea-induced unfolding of FprA, a mycobacterium NADPH-ferredoxin reductase, was examined in detail using multiple spectroscopic techniques, enzyme activity measurements and size exclusion chromatography. The transcription factor p63 plays a pivotal role in the development and maintenance of epithelial tissues, including the ocular surface. In an effort to gain insight into the pathogenesis of keratitis caused by HSV-1, we determined the expression patterns of the p63 and Bax proteins in the Staatens Seruminstitute Rabbit Cornea cell line (SIRC). Methods: SIRC cells were infected with HSV-1 at various multiplicities and maintained for different periods of time. Virus replication was measured by indirect immunofluorescence assay and Western blot analysis.

Patients with fulminant meningococcemia often experience diffuse leakage of fluid into extravascular spaces, shock, and multiple-organ dysfunction (Chaps. 264 and 265). Myocardial depression may be prominent. Supportive therapy, although never studied in randomized, placebo-controlled trials, is recommended. Standard measures include vigorous fluid resuscitation (often requiring several liters over the first 24 h), elective ventilation, and pressors. Some authorities recommend early hemodialysis or hemofiltration.

Nutritional Status Assessment Full nutritional status assessment is reserved for seriously ill patients and those at very high nutritional risk when the cause of malnutrition is still uncertain after initial clinical evaluation and dietary assessment. It involves multiple dimensions, including documentation of dietary intake, anthropometric measurements, biochemical measurements of blood and urine, clinical examination, health history, and functional status.
