Jhum or shifting cultivation, which is widespread in the North East India and some parts of Orissa, Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh, is a primitive practice of cultivation. It involves clearing vegetative/forest cover on land/slopes of hills, drying and burning it before onset of monsoon and cropping on it thereafter. After harvesting is over, the land is left fallow and vegetation regeneration is allowed on it till the plot becomes reusable for the purpose of cultivation in a cycle.

The present study was carried out to determine the marketing pattern of banana in Bemetara district of Chhattisgarh. A list of banana growing villages has been prepared and atleast 28 villages with atleast 4 banana growers are randomly selected for study purposes and multistage sampling was adopted.

Perception is an activity through which an individual becomes aware of objects around oneself and of events taking place. The perception of the SHG members regarding the economic, social, psychological and political influence of SHGs’ activities had been analyzed with the help of a developed scaling technique. The study was conducted in three talukas of Junagadh district of Saurashtra region on the basis of maximum number of active SHGs in Junagadh district. This study is based on the data collected from a sample of 120 farmers selected from amongst the selected villages within the selected markets/mandis. The whole sample design consists of multistage random sampling. The selection of the district forms the first stage in sampling. Bhiwani and Mahindergarh districts of Haryana were purposively selected to represent a case study. These markets are selected because these market were the vicinity of the research. The present study was carried out in Dharwad and Belagavi districts of North Karnataka to study the constraints in production, consumption and marketing of fish. For this purpose, multistage random sampling procedure was adopted for the selection of the ultimate unit of samples. The data was collected from 60 selected fish farmers, 60 selected fish consumers and 30 market functionaries during the period 2018-19. Garrett’s ranking technique was used to analyze the data.

Orange is one of the major horticultural crops in Arunachal Pradesh. The agro-climatic conditions of West Siang district suits the production of orange crop. A research was conducted during the year 2018-19 in technological gap in orange production technology. West Siang district was purposively selected as it is one of the major orange producing districts of Arunachal Pradesh and is second largest in acreage of land under orange cultivation after Changlang as per Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Census 2010-2011.

The present study was conducted during the year 2018-19 in West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya. Out of total eleven districts in the state, West Jaintia Hills District was selected as this district has the highest area under turmeric cultivation. Laskein block and Thadlaskein block of West Jaintia Hills District were purposively selected for the study and multistage sampling procedure was followed. Turmeric growers were randomly selected from six villages by using stratified random sampling with proportional allocation method making a total sample of 120 respondents for the study.

Investigation was carried out during the year 2017-2018. For present study multistage sampling design was used in selection of district, tehsils, and village and ber growers. On the basis of high area under ber crop Pandharpur and Sangola tehsils were selected. From selected two tehsils 6 villages were selected purposely on the basis of highest area under ber crop. From each village 8 ber growers were selected. In this way 96 ber growers were selected for the present study.

Maize (Zea maize) belongs to family (Gramineae). It is the third most important cereal food grain crop in the world followed by rice and wheat. The origin of maize is Mexico in Central America. It contributes about 20 per cent world’s total cereal production. For present study multistage sampling design was used in selection of district, tehsils, and village and maize growers. On the basis of high area under maize crop Malshiras, Pandharpur and Sangola tehsils were selected. From selected three tehsils 6 villages were selected purposely on the basis of highest area under maize crop.
