Mungbean production technology

In Rajasthan mungbean is grown over 790185 hectare with the production of 23426 tonnes. Jaipur district has 60624 hectare area under mungbean cultivation and production 9579 tonnes, which is nearly 4.09 per cent of total mungbean production in Rajasthan (Annoymous, 2012-13). The productivity of Jaipur district is 158 kg/ha. There is a wide scope to improve and increase the mungbean production and productivity by enhancing the knowledge and adoption of recommended production technology by farmers.

Green gram (Mungbean) is an important pulse crop of India next to tur and blackgram. It plays an important role in enhancing the income of small and marginal farmers of Southern Karnataka. The production of greengram in district is very less as compared to state and national average. However, the domestic requirements are also higher, due to this greengram is being imported. With this the ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Chamarajanagar district conducted 50 frontline demonstrations on greengram covering an area of 20 ha of farmers’ fields in villages viz., K.

Pulses are the main source of quality protein and a rich source of energy, minerals and certain vitamins. The study was conducted in Jaipur district of Rajasthan. Jaipur district comprises of sixteen tehsils, out of which 3 tehsils viz., Dudu, Phulera and Phagi were selected purposely. Two gram panchayats were selected randomly from each tehsils. Two revenue villages were selected from each selected gram panchayat on the basis of random sampling method.

Rice based production systems in the sub-humid region (Purvanchal) of Uttar Pradesh are traditional, with low yield and low farm income, and they have largely missed out on the benefits of the Green Revolution. To enhance productivity, alleviate environmental and management constraints, and enhance farmers’ income in the rice–wheat cropping system of the sub-humid Purvanchal region, Uttar Pradesh, new approaches that are more productive and sustainable need to be developed.

Relay cropping may play an important role for crop productivity and environmental sustainability in modern agriculture if its proper timing of sowing of relay crop system is standardised. A field study was carried out during 2016-17 at the Central Research Farm of the Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya with seven treatments where jute as relay crop (sown in between 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 days old mungbean) was compared with sole jute and sole mungbean.
