Thirty interspecific crosses (including reciprocals) involving three genotypes/varieties of greengram (Vigna radiate (L) Wilczek) cv. HUM 1 HUM 2 & HUM 8 and five genotypes/varieties of blackgram (Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper) cv. T 9, Pant U 19, PDU 1, BHUU 1 & BHUU 91-346-1 were attempted. Nine out of 30 crosses were successful only when greengram was used as seed parents. The crossability ranged from 0.0 to 61.0 per cent. Germination, survival and pod bearing habit of the F1s hybrids were much better in Kharif season as compared to spring/summer season.

The study was carried out on genetic Variability and heritability for seed yield characters in Mungbean [Vigna radiate (L.) Wilczek] for 13 characters of Mungbean on 25 genotypes including check (Samrat) were evaluated during Kharif, 2018 in Randomized Block Design. It was recorded that Harvest index, number of primary branches per plant, number of seeds per pod and number of pods per plant exhibited high PCV and GCV indicating the preponderance of additive gene action. Phenotypic correlation is higher than the genotypic correlation for the expression of these characters under study.

The performance of water application attachment on seed drill was evaluated at dryland research farm area of CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar, Haryana, in kharif, 2012 and compared to conventional method. Due to dependency on rains the sowing is often delayed in dryland area which substantially reduces the yield of crop upto 35 %. The effective field capacity of water application attachment on seed drill was observed 0.47 ha h-1 at average operating speed of 3.6 km hr-1.

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of Rhizobium and PlantaStim preparations on plant growth, nodulation and yield of mungbean (Vigna radiate L.). Experimental treatments included of uninoculation control, inoculation with Rhizobium 3, Rhizobium 9 and PlantaStim preparations. The Rhizobium 3 and Rhizobium 9 preparations showed better results over control and PlantaStim. The results showed that Rhizobium 9 preparation inoculation rose plant height by 27%, root length by 77% and root dry weight by 78%.

The present investigation was carried out with 112 diverse genotypes along with 5 checks of mungbean [Vigna radiata (L.) Wilczek] during Kharif season. Data were recorded on various morphological and agronomic characters including hypocotyl pigmentation, days to 50 percent flowering, plant height, number of leaves, number of branches, number of clusters, number of pods per cluster, total number of pods per plant, pod length, pod diameter, pod wall thickness, seed length, seed diameter, 100-seed weight, seed density and seed yield.
