  • Mungbean is grown principally for its protein content. Seed borne mycoflora affect the germination and vigour of seeds. Thus, due to seed borne diseases, there is a reduction in the production, resulting in failure of fulfilling the demand of mungbean seeds. The associated seed borne mycoflora were found to reduce the germination and thereby seedling vigour index. Fungicides and Trichoderma were found to increase the vigour index by keeping mycoflora under check and plant growth promoting activities of Trichoderma.

  • The present study describes physicochemical characterization and rhizosphere soil mycoflora in the field of onion white rot caused by Sclerotium cepivorum. Soil fungi in onion infected field need to improve knowledge of diversity of fungi associated with white rot of onion. Infected rhizosphere soil, sixteen physicochemical parameters were analysed. It founds alkaline pH but EC, N, Ca, Na, B, S and Mo contents were found least whereas OC, P, K, Zn and Cu high in infected soil as compared to standard range.

  • Like other crops, pea varieties were also harbour the seed borne mycoflora resulted in less germination and plant vigour index. Six varieties of pea and one local variety were taken in the present investigation to assess the seed health by incubation methods. It was found that varying degree and type of mycoflora associated with pea seeds were recorded.

  • A study was conducted to determine the mycoflora associated with pigeon pea cultivar MA6 and effect of botanicals on growth of mycoflora. The dominant fungi observed on pigeon pea cultivar MA6 seed were Rhizopus stolonifer, Aspergillus niger, A. flavus, Penicillium citrinum, P. rubrum, Alternaria alternata, A. solani, Curvularia lunata, Fusarium oxysporium. Among the treatments, the sulphate and nitrate treated seeds showed the less number of fungi isolated in comparison to untreated seeds. The nature of fungal flora had changed with prolongation of storage period of pigeonpea seeds.

  • Mycoflora and mycotoxins contamination of different cattle feed samples of north Telangana region was analysed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The feed samples were highly infested by A. flavus, A. terreus and Penicillium species. The incidence of the rest of the fungi varied with the type of sample and the place of collection. The toxigenic potential of different mycotoxigenic fungi varied with substratum. The strains of A. flavus, A. terreus and Penicillium citrinum elaborated aflatoxin, patulin, terreic acid and citrinin respectively.
