The present study investigated the views of healthcare professionals (HCPs) on acceptability, barriers, and facilitators of the BC-Predict intervention and on the wider implementation of risk-based screening after BC-Predict was implemented in their screening site.

Organized breast and cervical cancer screening programme could only provide services at no cost for a fraction of socioeconomic-deprived women in China and other low-resource countries, however, little evidence exists for whether such a programme effectively affect the participation and inequalities at the population level.

In England, a national breast screening programme (NHSBSP) has been in place since 1988, and assessment of its impact on breast cancer incidence and mortality is essential to ensure that the programme is indeed doing more good than harm.

Survival of childhood, adolescent and young adult (CAYA) cancers has increased with progress in the management of the treatments and has reached more than 80% at 5 years. Nevertheless, these survivors are at great risk of second cancers and non-malignant co-morbidities in later life.

Between 2003 and 2010 digital mammography (DM) gradually replaced screen-film mammography (SFM) in the Dutch breast cancer screening programme (BCSP). Previous studies showed increases in detection rate (DR) after the transition to DM. However, national interval cancer rates (ICR) have not yet been reported.

Cancer screening awareness and participation may be lower in low- and middle-income countries that lack established national screening programmes compared with those that do. We evaluated potential determinants of awareness about and participation in breast and cervical cancer screening, and breast selfexamination (BSE) in women using survey data from Indonesia.

Routine mammography improves survival. To achieve health benefits, women must attend breast screening regularly at recommended time intervals. Maltese women are routinely invited to undergo mammography at three-year intervals at an organized breast screening programme (MBSP) or can opt to attend a private clinic.

UK national guidelines suggest women at high-risk of breast cancer should be offered more frequent screening or preventative medications. Currently, only 1 in 6 high-risk women are identified. One route to identify more high-risk women is via multifactorial risk assessment as part of the UK’s NHS Breast Screening Programme (NHSBSP).

The quality assurance teams and managers supported the evolution of the breast screening programme locally, and professional quality assurance groups were developed with the relevant associations and royal colleges at a national level. In 1990, a new post of national coordinator of the NHSBSP was established, based at one of the regional heath authori- ties. Mrs Julietta Patnick at the Trent Region in Sheffield was appointed, and she is now the Director of the NHS Cancer Screening Programmes, which includes the NHSBSP.

Fine-Needle Aspiration Cytology/ Biopsy (FNAC/FNAB) is now a widely accepted diagnostic procedure, which has largely replaced open biopsy. This method is applicable to lesions that are easily palpable, for example swellings in Thyroid, Breast, superficial Lymph node etc. Imaging techniques, mainly ultra-sonography and computed tomography, offer an opportunity for guided FNAC of deeper structures. The practice of diagnostic cytology needs proper training of the laboratory personnel including cytopathologist, cytotechnologist and cytotechnician.
