The strength of the biotin/avidin interaction makes it an ideal tool for the purification of biotin-labeled proteins via avidin-coupled resin with high specificity and selectivity. Nevertheless, this tight binding comes at an extra cost of performing the elution step under denaturing conditions.

Bacillus anthracis is the causative agent of anthrax, a disease of both humans and various animal species, and can be used as a bioterror agent. Effective vaccines are available, but those could benefit from improvements, including increasing the immunity duration, reducing the shot frequency and adverse reactions. In addition, more sophisticated antigen delivery and potentiation systems are urgently required.

Hydatidosis caused by metacestode stage of Echinococcus granulosus is one of the most important cyclozoonotic disease affecting both humans and livestock resulting in considerable economic losses to livestock industry which amounts to US$ 3 billion annually (WHO factsheet on Echinococcosis, 2018). No reliable immunodiagnostic method is available for its sero-detection in animals. Native antigen-B represents one of the most immuno-dominant antigens in hydatidosis, therefore assessment of recombinant antigen-B subunit 8 was taken in the current study.

Haemonchus contortus is one of the most important nematode species responsible for huge economic losses to small-ruminant farming in India and world over. Control is primarily based on use of anthelmintics. Over reliance on and non-judicious use of anthelmintics has lead to development of anthelmintic resistance. This wide spread anthelmintic resistance has forced to look for alternate control measures. Vaccination can significantly protect livestock against and lower the economic losses incurred due to H. contortus. Different antigens have been tried with variable success.

Opacity-associated (Opa) proteins are outer membrane proteins which play a critical role in the adhesion of patho-genicNeisseriaspp. to epithelial and endothelial cells and polymorphonuclear neutrophils. The adherence is mainly mediated by the CD66-epitope-containing members of the carcinoembryonic-antigen family of human cell-adhesion molecules (CEACAM). For the analysis of the specific in-teractions of individual Opa proteins with their receptors, pure protein is needed in its native conformation. ...

Delayed hypersensitivity mechanisms directed by drug-specific T cells are probably the most important mechanisms in the etiology of the most common drug eruptions—morbilliform exanthems—and also of rare and severe forms such as hypersensitivity syndrome, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), Stevens-Johnson syndrome (SJS), and toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). Drugspecific T cells have been detected in these types of drug eruptions. Contrary to what has been believed for years, the antigen is more often the native drug itself than its metabolites.
