Despite the utilization of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in treating numerous types of cancers being approved, their efficacy in tumor control in the clinic is not satisfactory. Since adoptive cell therapy (ACT) can alter the tumor microenvironment, we hypothesized that ACT potentially synergized with ICI in tumor control and examined this hypothesis via a murine allograft model.

Ebook "The immunological barriers to regenerative medicine" offers an analysis of the scale and nature of the immunological issues facing regenerative medicine, drawing on the expertise of laboratories around the world who have taken up the challenge of applying their expertise in immunology to the vagaries of stem cell biology. It is our hope that this systematic analysis of the current state of the field will galvanise efforts to solve an issue which has so far remained intractable.

Anti-glomerular basement membrane (anti-GBM) disease and antineutrophil cytoplasm antibody (ANCA)-associated vasculitis are the main causes of pulmonary-renal syndrome (PRS). The concurrence of both ANCA - myeloperoxidase (MPO) and proteinase 3 (PR3) - and anti-GBM antibodies has been described, although positivity for all three antibodies has rarely been reported. The natural history of triplepositive patients as well as the best therapeutic approach remains unknown.

Wild aquatic birds serve as the natural reservoir for avian influenza virus (AIV), a disease with significant implications for avian and mammalian health. Climate change is predicted to impact the dynamics of AIV, particularly in areas such as the Arctic, but the baseline data needed to detect these shifts is often unavailable. In this study, plasma from two species of gulls breeding on the high-Arctic Svalbard archipelago were screened for antibodies to AIV.

Nanobodies are single-domain antibodies that contain the unique structural and functional properties of naturally-occurring heavy chain in camelidae. As a novel class of antibody, they show many advantages compared with traditional antibodies such as smaller size, higher stability, improved specificity, more easily expressed in microorganisms. These unusual hallmarks make them as promising tools in basic research and clinical practice.

Natural antibodies (NAb) are an important component of the innate immune system, and fight infections as a part of the first line defence. NAb are poly-reactive and can respond non-specifically to antigens.

Disease resilience is the ability to maintain performance under pathogen exposure but is difficult to select for because breeding populations are raised under high health. Selection for resilience requires a trait that is heritable, easy to measure on healthy animals, and genetically correlated with resilience

The use of natural feed additives as substitutes for antibiotic in poultry production has become an area of great interest. Medicinal plants or herbs consists of many pharmacologically active chemical compounds which have antimicrobial activity, antioxidant activity, antifungal activity, antiviral activity, anti-inflammatory effects as well as immunomodulatory properties (Toghyani et al., 2015).

Vector borne diseases have gained importance in recent decade due to the increasing frequency of sporadic episodes occurring in both endemic and non-endemic areas. The similar clinical presentation and the acute febrile nature results in misdiagnosis often and increases the risk of transmission and morbidity in the vulnerable populations. A study was undertaken to check the prevalence of Chikungunya virus among the febrile patients presenting with body ache or mayalgia between June 2014 and July 2015.

This study was carried out to know whether the healthy pregnant women silently shed Non-Polio Enteroviruses (NPEVs), because pregnant women are usually immunocompromised in nature. Therefore, rapid strip tests (cassettes) IgM antibody was used to screen human EV71 and CVA16 from serum samples. Out of sixty (60) blood samples collected from Kawo and Yusuf Dan Tsoho General Hospitals in Kaduna, Kaduna state, Nigeria, none of the samples was found positive for Enteroviruses (i.e. Enterovirus 71 (EV71) and Coxachie virus A16 (CVA16).

Lymphocyte-activation gene (LAG)3 is a 498 aa transmembrane type I protein acting as an immune inhibitory receptor. It is expressed on activated lymphocytes, natural killer cells and plasmacytoid dendritic cells. In activated lymphocytes, LAG3 expression is involved in negative control of cell activation/proliferation to ensure modulation and control of immune responses.

Japanese encephalitis (JE) is a mosquito borne viral infection of brain. It is prevalent worldwide, most prominent in eastern and southern Asia. Domestic pigs and wild birds are reservoirs of the virus; humans get the disease through mosquito bite that carries the virus. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to uncover the prevalence of antibodies to Japanese encephalitis virus and its nucelic acid in naturally infected pigs of Punjab by commercial indirect ELISA kit and Reverse Trancriptase-PCR (RT-PCR).

The nature of bovines` life enable them to form developed immune responses due to their exposure to many pathogens, besides their immune organs` characteristics. Bovine are herbivorous animals which make them a rich and safe source for human's therapies. The potential role of bovine in providing humans with antibodies in serum and milk in particularly the specific antibodies against human viruses or even relevant bovine viruses cannot be denied.

Measles is a highly contagious vaccine-preventable disease caused by the Morbilivirus. Measles vaccine was introduced in India in 1985 as a part of Universal Immunization Programme (UIP) which was given at 9 completed months of age. As vaccine coverage has increased, there has been a marked reduction in measles incidence in the pediatric age group; but at the same time, the average age, at which measles infection occurs, has significantly increased.

Schistosoma mansoni and Schistosoma haematobium are intravascular, parasitic flatworms that infect >250 million people in 70 developing countries, yet not all people of the same community and household are afflicted. Regarding laboratory rodents, mice but not rats are susceptible to infection with S. mansoni and hamsters but not mice are entirely permissive to infection with S. haematobium. A recent Brazilian publication has demonstrated that resistance of the water-rat, Nectomys squamipes to S. mansoni infection might be ascribed to stores of arachidonic acid (ARA)-rich lipids in liver.
