  • Anthracnose leaf disease in rubber trees, caused by the attack of Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, have led to the serious decline in natural rubber production. Continuous usage of synthetic fungicide leave the toxic residues that harm the surrounding animals and plants and are not environmentally friendly. It needs a better solution with organic products that are safer, more effective and biodegradable. Piper species could be considered as a source of new natural products with potential antifungal activities.

  • Indiscriminate use of pesticides leads to undesirable load of pesticide residues in marketable vegetables (Kumari et al., 2005) and cause severe ecological consequences like destruction of natural enemy fauna, effect on non-target organisms and directly effect in the form of residues. Hence studies were conducted for the efficacy of different insecticides used commonly and also to establish the dissipation pattern of relatively safer insecticides to fit in pest management strategy.

  • Agroforestry a complex land use system both ecologically and economically have innumerous role to play in conservation of natural resources along with its economic viability. Various tree canopy management activities like pruning and lopping along with applied resources have significant effect on soil. Litter fall, decomposition, leaching and residual effect have great potential on soil health of the system. Present system involving lopped trees and organically mannured crop have shown varying effect on soil properties.

  • Plant protection using synthetic pesticides has become one of the essential components of modern agriculture. Although need based judicious application of pesticides have made a significant impact on increasing crop productivity in agricultural sector by combating heavy losses due to pest infestation but there are lots of serious associated bottlenecks with pesticides. The major issues related to pesticide application are environmental pollution, health hazards, pest resurgence, secondary pest outbreak etc.

  • A field experiment was carried out at Crop Research Farm, Nawabganj, C. S. Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur during Rabi 2012-13 and 2013-14 in sodic soil with the initial pH 9.5, EC 2.42 dSm-1 , organic carbon 1.2 g kg-1 and exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP) 57.10. Tube-well water used for irrigation was alkaline in nature with pH 8.2, electrical conductivity (EC) 1.19 dSm-1 , sodium absorption ratio (SAR) 10.2 m mol1/2 L -1/2 and residual sodium carbonate (RSC) 8.8 me L-1 .

  • This work focused on monitoring CO2 production, microbial growth and residual hydrocarbon concentration during bioremediation experiments performed on laboratory soil microcosms. A natural soil was artificially contaminated with hexadecane and adjusted with inorganic nutrients to stimulate biodegradation. Microbial growth, CO2 production and residual hexadecane were periodically monitored at different soil water contents ranging from 0.15 to 0.25 g water g -1 of dry soil and at different temperatures ranging from 20 to 25 oC.

  • The objective is to leave as many residues as possible in order to increase soil organic matter and to spread them as evenly as possible. Especially in environments where decomposition is fast and where the amount of residues is low it is not recommended to chop the residues. Rotavator is important machine which break the soil and crop residues and mix so that eventually. Conservation agriculture crop can be increased climatic resilence, food security, soil nutrion, energy reduction and income.

  • Greenhouse gas emission is the biggest challenge to the society and responsible for major climatic changes these days. The non-renewable sources are responsible for this and should be replaced by the renewable once. Biogas is one of the most reliable and efficient renewable resource. Various organic wastes such as cattle dung, crop residues, human excreta, kitchen waste etc. are available in nature and can be easily used for biogas production.

  • Soil organic carbon (SOC) dynamics in croplands is a crucial component of global carbon (C) cycle. Depending on local environmental conditions and management practices, typical C input is generally required to reduce or reverse C loss in agricultural soils. Changes in the soil organic carbon (SOC) stock are determined by the balance between the carbon input from organic materials and the output from the decomposition of soil C. The fate of SOC in cropland soils plays a significant role in both sustainable agricultural production and climate change mitigation.

  • Agricultural production is mainly depends on the health of soil, which is a measure of a complex set of biological, chemical and physical interactions driven by microorganisms. Effective microorganism increases the beneficial microbial population in the soil for sustainable crop production. Effective Microorganisms are mixed cultures of beneficial naturally-occurring organisms that can be applied as inoculants to increase the microbial diversity of soil ecosystem. They consist mainly of the photosynthesizing bacteria, lactic acid bacteria, yeasts, actinomycetes and fermenting fungi.

  • Nowadays, synthetic dyes are widely used in textile, leather, cosmetics, paper, food and pharmaceutical industries instead of natural dyes due to its availability, stability, low cost and color intensity which emerges a new problem of residual color in the discharged effluent. Improper discharge of dye effluent in aqueous ecosystems is aesthetically unpleasant and impedes photosynthetic activity reducing sunlight penetration, dissolved oxygen concentration and water quality in total.

  • Carbon sequestration is the most important and necessary for good crop production under climate change from the agricultural soils. The increase in gaseous concentration of carbon dioxide, methane and various other gases results decreased crop production, change in soil chemical and biological properties like soil texture, soil structure, soil organic matter content and elemental concentration as well as change in bacterial and fungal populations.

  • Major rice-wheat growing soils of Upper Gangetic Plains, India were studied and evaluated by considering soil-site characteristics by using qualitative and quantitative methods. The qualitative method employed were USDA land capability classification and land suitability classification, while the quantitative evaluation method includes Riquier's parametric approach. The land evaluation methods indicated that information on production potential of soils provide a basis for comparison among different soils.

  • The obvious alternative to polling for data is to dis- tribute that data, as it becomes available, to lists of subscribers. This approach may be adequate for small subscription lists (for example, e-mail lists), but it will not scale to accommodate the growing subscription de- mands of Web site syndication. Furthermore, while such an approach may reduce the overall bandwidth usage of RSS (by reducing unnecessary fetches), it does nothing to alleviate the per-update stress on network links close to the source.

  • The first of these stages is perceptual analysis, which is con- cerned with organization, grouping, symmetry analysis, complex- ity and other perceptual features that are known to influence aesthetic appreciation. In the second stage, the analysis of familiar- ity, prototypicality and meaning is performed, together with the implicit and automatic integration of information with pre-exist- ing memory structures. Processes involved in explicit classification are performed in the third phase, including those related with the style and the content of the stimulus.

  • Diverse human-produced organic chemicals can enter surface and groundwater through human activities, including pesticide use and industrial processes, and as breakdown products of other chemicals (Carr and Neary 2008). Many of these pollutants, including pesticides and other non-metallic toxins, are used globally, persist in the environment, and can be transported long ranges to regions where they have never been produced (UNEP 2009).
