  • This study aims to evaluate the effect of fire on soil properties at Zone A5, Tram Chim National Park, Tam Nong district, Dong Thap province. Findings indicated that soil type was acid sulfate, soil structures were clay, clay-silt and silt-clay. pH was low while moisture was high. Electrical conductivity and bulk density were in the tolerance range for the Eleocharis community.

  • The research on the structure of the phytoplankton community in relation to the physicalchemical parameters of seawater needs to be carried out to see indicators of fertility and availability of natural food in the waters that will be used as a marine aquaculture location. To find out the relationship between physico-chemical parameters and phytoplankton abundance, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) was used. Some physico-chemical parameters observed were temperature, brightness, pH, salinity, coated oxygen (DO), phosphate, nitrate, and ammonia.

  • The results indicated that the climatic factors have significant role on the monthly and seasonally microhabitats. The great variety of coarse sand recorded in El-Ssabha sand dunes. Soil moisture percentage gave maximum percentage in wet season during the two years 2007 and 2008. Soil pH and soil E.C obtained varied according to the location.

  • The rationale of this elementary work was to develop starch based bio-coat for food items using permutation combination of starch of different sources (corn, potato, tapioca) and various plasticizers (glycerine, rice bran oil, sesame oil, castrol oil, soya bean oil and olive oil). An eco-friendly alternative to conventional petro-plastic polymer with a futuristic application as edible food wraps was intended as the outcome.

  • The present study was carried out at the laboratory, Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, College of Agriculture, Rajendranagar to characterize the complex formation of humic fractions with metal ions. The results observed that increase in pH of humic and fulvic acid when titrated with 0.1 N NaOH indicates higher buffering capacity of these fractions. Potentiometric titration curves obtained for both humic and fulvic acids are sigmoidal in shape indicating their weak acid nature. Absence of inflection indicates the formation of metal complexes.

  • This work was aimed at isolating AHL degrading bacteria from fish culture pond soil, with abilities appropriate for use as probiotic in aquaculture. The presence of an autoinducer inactivation (aiiA) homologue gene and AHL-inactivation assay showed that BacillusthuringiensisQQ17, which was one among the 20 isolates, could rapidly degrade synthetic C6-HSL in vitro and hampered violacein production by Chromobacterium violaceum.

  • Saigon River is a major river system and plays an important role in the economic and social development of the Southern key economic region. This paper studies the relationship between canals and the Saigon River. Water quality monitoring data was collected at the Department of Natural Resources and Environment, with 10 parameters (temperature, pH, DO, turbidity, TSS, COD, BOD5, NNH4, P-PO4, coliform) calculated in the period 2007-2016.

  • Lactobacillus sakei, a lactic acid bacterium naturally found in fresh meat and sea products, is considered to be one of the most important bacterial species involved in meat fermentation and bio-preservation. Several enzymes of Lb. sakei species contributing to microbial safeguarding and organoleptic properties of fermented-meat were studied. However, the specific autolytic mechanisms and associated enzymes involved in Lb. sakei are not well understood. The autolytic phenotype of 22 Lb.

  • Nowadays, wastewater from various industries contains a large number of harmful heavy metals and coloring agents, which have to be removed to restore the quality of the environment. In this study, the removal of nickel ions (Ni2+) and methylene blue (MB) from the aqueous solution using steel slag as a low cost adsorbent was investigated. The chemical and mineralogical compositions, as well as the surface area of slag, were analyzed by using X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller method (BET).

  • The pH values will bring effects in flora and fauna nearby, change the taste of water and lead to heavy corrosion in pipe lines. High conductivity naturally indicates the presence of ionic substances dissolved in the river water. However, the result showed that 90% of the study site exceeded the data reported for non-contaminated rivers due to excessive metal ions within the water. At the site nearer to kaolin industry the conductivity is 852 times higher than the non-polluted study site. The industrial discharge also changed the hardness in river water.
