This paper reports on the extraction of microcrystal cellulose from cotton fiber and their application as a reinforcing agent in NR matrix. Microcrystalline cellulose was also grafted with maleic anhydride (MA) so that grafted one can improve interfacial interaction between cellulose and natural rubber. Fillers were incorporated to block natural rubber by two-roll mill dry mixing.

The article will be focused on methods of chemical modification of NR and the use of improved traditional fillers such as carbon black (CB) and silica. Modification reactions include epoxidation, hydrogenation, and grafting vinyl monomers onto NR molecules. Some methods of surface modification of NR film were also reviewed. Thanks to modification the NR degree of unsaturatiton is decrease that leads to its enhanced aging resistance.

Preparation and characterization of natural rubber grafted with methyl methacrylate (MMA) and vinytriethoxysilane (VTES) were performed in the present work. Graft copolymerization of methyl methacryate was carried out in latex stage, and VTES was added during the graft copolymerization of MMA.

The blends based on polyvinyl chloride (PVC), nitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), natural rubber (NR) and polyethylene (PE) were made by three different methods. The mechanical properties of these blends in dependence of mixing time and temperature were characterized. The result showed that the two-step blending method, where PVC and NBR were first mixed together and then blended with NR and PE, is the best one to prepare blends with high mechanical properties.

The study on the relationship between compositions and mechanical properties of the blends based on poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC), butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber (NBR) and natural rubber (NR) has been carried out. The result shows that in the presence of NBR, which plays role of transition phase between the two incompatible polymers PVC and NR, the tertiary phase polymer blends having high tensile strength and elongation at break were obtained.

The structures of the newly synthesised macro azo initiators based on hydroxyl-terminated liquid natural rubber (HTNR) i.e, poly-(cis-1,4-isoprene) azobis-cyanopentanoate, was investigated by FTIR, UV-vis and elemental analyses. The thermal decomposition of the samples was carried out in toluene at 80o C showing that all they exhibited first-order kinetics and good initiating effectiveness as compared to that of AIBN.

The HN-06 compound was found as compatibilizer for natural rubber (NR)-chloroprene rubber (CR) blend. The blend containing 0.8 wt% HN-06 compound gave good compatibility and it can be observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) image of two rubbers layer’s interface. Blend of NR/CR/HN-06 = 70/30/0.8 wt% have high mechanical properties the tensile strength 25.1 MPa, the tear strength 43.1 N/mm, the abrasion loss 0.044 g, good ozone and oil resistance.

Vietnam belongs to the region of tropical climate with high temperature and moisture, especially very high violete radiation exposure. Under these conditions the properties of elastomeric alloys made from waste rubber powder and polypropylene using peroxide as an initiator were messured. Using the dynamic stabilizing method the influence of the composition and the nature of the components on the alloy stability was estimated.

Thanks to the structure properties, liquid natural rubber (LNR) was used by several authors as compatibilizer for polymer blends based on the natural rubber. This paper gave an overview about the influence of the compatibilizer TH1 – LNR with the end OH-groups on the morphology and properties of the research blend systems. The research results showed that TH1 with the molecular weight of 8.500 had the best compatible effect for the blends NR/PE, NR/SBR and NR/NBR. This compatibilizer TH1 was good for the blends the components of which had the little polarity difference like NR/SBR.
