Paradoxical inflammations during anti-TNF-α therapy are defined as adverse effects such as psoriasiform skin lesions, uveitis and sarcoidosis-like granulomas induced by immune reactions, not by infectious agents.

Steroids such as glucocorticoid have been widely used for their excellent anti-inflammatory, antiimmune, and anti-shock properties. However, the long-term use in high doses has been found to cause necrosis of femoral head and other serious adverse reactions.

Adverse Reaction to Metal Debris (ARMD) is still a major reason for revision surgeries in patients with metal-on-metal (MoM) hip replacements. ARMD consists of a wide range of alterations in periprosthetic tissues, most important of which are metallosis, inflammation, pseudotumors and necrosis.

In this context, genetic resistance remains the most economical method for the resource poor farmers. So far, the released varieties are found to be susceptible to GBND. Identification of GBND resistant sources in newly developed advanced breeding lines which are agronomically superior would help in recommending and release of these genotypes for GBND endemic locations. Keeping in view the economic importance of the disease in most of the groundnut growing areas and lack of available resistance sources to GBND, present work has been taken up.

Bladder cancer often recurs due to incomplete elimination of the cancer stem cells (CSCs). Therefore, new strategies targeting bladder CSCs are needed and the aim of this study was to investigate the effect of S100A4 on the proliferation capacity of MB49 bladder cancer stem cells (MCSCs).

Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. radicis-lycopersici (FORL) is one of the most destructive necrotrophic pathogens affecting tomato crops, causing considerable field and greenhouse yield losses. Despite such major economic impact, little is known about the molecular mechanisms regulating Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. radicis-lycopersici resistance in tomato.

The present study was carried out to know the sap transmission nature of sunflower necrosis virus and detection by serological and molecular means. The disease was successfully transmitted through mechanical sap using 0.05 M potassium phosphate buffer. A maximum transmission of 52.33 per cent on cultivar KBSH-44, 51.33 per cent on KBSH-1, and 48.33 per cent on Morden. Under artificial inoculation, the newly emerged leaves showed slight downward curling, puckering and chlorosis followed by necrosis.

The Atlantic little tunny, Euthynnus alletteratus, is widely distributed in temperate and tropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean, Black and Mediterranean Seas. In this study, wild-caught little tunny from Egypt, were found to be naturally infected with trypanorhyncha metacestodes, and the overall prevalence rate of infection was 38.7%. The blastocysts were either loosely attached to the mesentery of infected fish, or firmly attached and deeply embedded within the hepatic parenchyma.

Although the pathogenesis of paediatric-onset autoimmune hepatitis (pAIH) remains incompletely understood, genetic variants and environmental factors are known to be involved. Caspase recruitment domain family member 10 (CARD10) is a scaffold protein that participates in a complex pathway activating nuclear factor kappa-B (NFjB) and tumour necrosis factor alpha (TNF-a). This study aimed to investigate the association of CARD10 rs6000782 (g.37928186A > C) and TNF gene promoter rs1799724 (c.-1037C > T) variants with pAIH susceptibility in a cohort of Egyptian children.

This study explored the level of infection caused by different inoculum concentrations (102, 103, and 104 zoospores mL−1) of Phytophthora capsici in 3 pepper cultivars at days 2, 4, and 6. The effect that the infection induced on the peroxidase (POX), catalase (CAT), and phenolics of resistant and sensitive seedlings, as well as the defense mechanism against the pathogen, were also investigated.

When studiedin vitro, mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) is associated with an increase in mitochondrial per-meability to solutes up to 1500 Da in mass and a loss of electrical potential difference across the inner mitochondrial membrane (Dwmit). The MPT has been implicated as being important in cellular calcium homeostasis, autophagy and cell death via necrosis and apoptosis.

Double-stranded RNA-activated protein kinase (PKR), a serine/threonine kinase, is activated in virus-infected cells and acts as an antiviral machinery of type I interferons. PKR controls several stress response pathways induced by double-stranded RNA, tumor necrosis factor-aor lipo-polysaccharide, which result in the activation of stress-acti-vated protein kinase/c-Jun NH2 -terminal kinase and p38 of the mitogen-activated protein kinase family.

Exposure of mammalian cells to oxidant stress causes early (iron catalysed) lysosomal rupture followed by apoptosis or necrosis. Enhanced intracellular production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), presumably of mitochondrial origin, is also observed when cells are exposed to nonoxidant pro-apoptotic agonists of cell death. We hypothesized that ROS generation in this latter case might promote the apoptotic cascade and could arise from effects of released lysosomal materials on mitochondria.

Tumour necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL) has attractedmuch attention because of its ability to kill tumour cells. In this study, we demonstrated that treatment of QGY-7703 cells with the combination of TRAIL and etoposide resulted in synergistic cytotoxic effects. In dissecting the mechanism underlying this syner-gistic effect, we found that treatment with etoposide alone resulted in the upregulation of Bax, while the level of trun-catedBid (tBid)wasunchanged.

Plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 (PAI-1) is induced by many proin-flammatory and pro-oxidant factors. Among them, tumor necrosis factora (TNFa), a pivotal early mediator that regulates and amplifies the develop-ment of inflammation, is one of the strongest PAI-1 synthesis activators. Location of the TNFa response element in the PAI-1 promoter is still ambiguous.

We have previously reported a mouseRnf33⁄Trim60gene that is temporally expressed in the pre-implantation embryo. TheRnf33structural gene is com-posed of a short noncoding exon 1 and an intronless coding exon 2. In the present work,Rnf33was shown to be expressed in the mouse testis and in the testicular cell lines TM3 and TM4.

The molecular mechanisms underlying activation of the IjB kinase (IKK) complex are presumably best understood in the context of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor-1 (TNFR1) signaling. In fact, it seems that most, if not all, proteins relevant for this process have been identified and extensive biochemical and genetic data are available for the role of these factors in TNF-induced IKK activation.
