  • The acid-treated PG was neutralized by NaOH and CO2 aeration, creating CaCO3 in situ nano-microparticles identified by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images and CaCO3 intensity by X-ray diffraction (XRD). In this study, the cement mortar test, which used treated PG from both sulfuric treatment and NaOH neutralization within CO2 aeration, has better compressive strength properties and hydration supported by SEM images, XRD results, and thermogravimetric analysis.

  • Discerning the traits evolving under neutral conditions from those traits evolving rapidly because of various selection pressures is a great challenge. We propose a new method, composite selection signals (CSS), which unifies the multiple pieces of selection evidence from the rank distribution of its diverse constituent tests.

  • There is limited information on the impact on perioperative fluid intervention on complications and length of hospital stay following pancreaticoduodenectomy. Therefore, we conducted a detailed analysis of fluid intervention in patients undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy at a university teaching hospital to test the hypothesis that a restrictive intravenous fluid regime and/or a neutral or negative cumulative fluid balance, would impact on perioperative complications and length of hospital stay.

  • Virus neutralization test (VNT) is widely used for serological survey of classical swine fever (CSF) and efficacy evaluation of CSF vaccines. However, VNT is a time consuming procedure that requires cell culture and live virus manipulation. C-strain CSF vaccine is the most frequently used vaccine for CSF control and prevention.

  • Infectious bronchitis virus (IBV), a coronavirus, is one of the most important poultry pathogens worldwide due to its multiple serotypes and poor cross-protection. Vaccination plays a vital role in controlling the disease. The efficacy of vaccination in chicken flocks can be evaluated by detecting neutralizing antibodies with the neutralization test. However there are no simple and rapid methods for detecting the neutralizing antibodies.

  • In southern China, the silver pheasant (Lophura nycthemera) is a widespread species due to complex topography and sufficient habitats and food resources. We investigated the microsatellite and mitochondrial DNA control region sequence of 115 individuals from 7 locations in China to study population dynamics of the silver pheasant during the Pleistocene. The neutrality test and mismatch distribution analyses showed that population expansion began in the interglacial period (76,053 years ago), and the latest common ancestor appeared approximately 970,300 years ago.

  • The significant negative neutrality test values are the evidence of expansion of the total population. H. sieboldiana and H. kiyosumiensis are more widely distributed than other taxa. H. sieboldiana, H. alismifolia, H. longipes var. gracillima and H. kikutii var. polyneuron showed the excessive low frequency variants.

  • A number of different statistics are used for detecting natural selection using DNA sequencing data, including statistics that are summaries of the frequency spectrum, such as Tajima’s D. These statistics are now often being applied in the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data. However, estimates of frequency spectra from NGS data are strongly affected by low sequencing coverage; the inherent technology dependent variation in sequencing depth causes systematic differences in the value of the statistic among genomic regions.

  • The primary function of these robots is to move to the site and manipulate elements which present risk, while well as transmit images with cameras. Behind all the mechanical engineering that supports the structure and gives the robot the ability to interact with its surroundings, a sophisticated electronic system that operates the different robot systems (caterpillars, cameras, manipulator arm) is hidden.

  • This paper describes the development of Hole Recognition System (HRS) for Computer-Aided Process Planning (CAPP) using a neutral data format produced by CAD system. The geometrical data of holes is retrieved from STandard for the Exchange of Product model data (STEP). Rule-based algorithm is used during recognising process. Current implementation of feature recognition is limited to simple hole features. Test results are presented to demonstrate the capabilities of the feature recognition algorithm.

  • This study examines the dynamic relationship between energy use, income, and environmental degradation in Afghanistan using annual data from 1970 to 2016. The dynamic causal relationship among variables are being tested; grounded by four testable hypotheses (growth, conservation, feedback, and neutrality). The F-bounds test, Dynamic OLS, and VECM Granger causality are utilized. The empirical results confirm that there is a long-run relationship among the variables and the energy use and GDP both affects the CO2 emissions in the long run.

  • Phenol and its components are extremely toxic and can easily be isolated from different industrial sewage such as oil refinery, petrochemical industry and mines, especially chemical factories causing pollution in water bodies. Rivers and oceans are contaminated on a large scale with these toxic compounds. In the past, physicochemical method was used for the elimination of phenol and its compounds, but today, bioremediation is preferable.

  • This hypothesis is theoretically appealing and may measure the extent of financial efficiency, and the power of arbitrage, meaning that financial anomalies, due to fads for example, little exist. This paper looks upon fourteen samples of investments for which the difference in maturity is three months and provides various tests that support the hypothesis of risk neutrality.
