A field experiment was conducted at the Adaptive Research Station, Sakhigopal, Puri during kharif-2012 to study the morpho-physiological basis of yield variation in the newly released rice genotypes. Nine rice genotypes such as Tanmayee, Mrunalini, Tejaswini, Swarna, OR-2327-23, OR-2324-8, Pratikhya, Hiranmayee and Swarna sub-1 were taken into test under shallow water depth condition in the field in a randomised block design (RBD) in three replications.

In this context, genetic resistance remains the most economical method for the resource poor farmers. So far, the released varieties are found to be susceptible to GBND. Identification of GBND resistant sources in newly developed advanced breeding lines which are agronomically superior would help in recommending and release of these genotypes for GBND endemic locations. Keeping in view the economic importance of the disease in most of the groundnut growing areas and lack of available resistance sources to GBND, present work has been taken up.

The main objective of the FLD is to demonstrate newly released crop production and protection technologies and management practices at the farmers’ field under different agro-climatic regions and farming situations. Keeping in view, the present study was undertaken to increase the green gram productivity by conducting the FLDs.

Physical and chemical properties of Anjana (JGL-11118) and Pradhyumna (JGL-17004) rice varieties were grown and processed in Northern Telangana State were studied. The L/B ratio of rice varieties Anjana (JGL-11118) and Pradhyumna (JGL-17004) were 3.62 ± 0.16 mm and 3.37 ± 0.12 mm.

Glycemic index (GI) is an important parameter of food quality which compares the hyperglycemic effect of a tested meal with pure glucose. Glycemic index of different varieties of rice (Oryza sativa) such as Pradhyumna (JGL-17004) and Anjana (JGL-11118) were determined. Clinically healthy adult subjects (n=20) of age 19 - 25 years were selected for the determination of glycemic index of the rice varieties Anjana (JGL-11118) and Pradhyumna (JGL-17004).

Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz.) is an important tuber cultivated in India. Cassava is vegetatively propagated through stem cuttings (setts). A mature plant with two stems will give about 12 to 20 normal sized (20 cm) setts after one year. Farmers are practicing 8-10 cm long cuttings from the mature part of stem and planted in vertical position in nursery bed at closer spacing of 5 cm. Under conventional system of propagation, 1250 to 1500 stems are required for planting one hectare of area.

The study was done to assess the nutritional and keeping quality characteristics of value added sev developed from newly released wheat varieties’ (WH-1129 and HD-2967) flours supplemented with sorghum and soybean flours. The control sev had mean score of overall acceptability 6.16 whereas all other types of sevs made from composite flours had mean scores of overall acceptability ranging from 7.48 to 8.32, which were significantly higher (P≤0.05) than that of control sev.

Increases in rice grain yield depend on introduction of potential cultivars including hybrids into Andaman and Nicobar islands that with small acreage (5340 ha) won’t merit developing hybrids locally. The objective of this study was to evaluate newly released hybrids and high yielding varieties of rice elsewhere in the country and identify promising ones for augmenting the huge production shortages in the islands.

A field experiment was conducted at Seed Technology Research and Production Centre, Thangedancha during rabi 2017-18 to standardize seed rate for mechanical sowing of newly released varieties of chickpea. In this investigation, growth, yield parameters and yield of chickpea were significantly influenced by the varieties, seed rates and their interaction. Among the three varieties Nandyala gram 49 recoded significantly the highest number of pods per plant, 100 grain weight and grain yield but which was statistically on par with Nandayala Senaga-1 in grain 100 grain weight and grain yield.
