  • Vibration analysis of multi-span bidirectional functionally graded material (2D-FGM) beams subjected to a moving load is presented by using a high-order deformation theory. The material properties of the beam are assumed to vary continuously in the thickness and longitudinal directions by a power-law distribution. The dynamic response of the beam is computed with the aid of the Newmark method.

  • This paper presents study and comparison of numerical methods which are used for evaluation of dynamic response. A Single Degree of Freedom (SDF)-linear problem is solved by means of Newmark’s Average acceleration method [2], Linear acceleration method [2], Central Difference method [6,7] with the help of MATLAB. The advantages, disadvantages, relative precision and applicability of these numerical methods are discussed throughout the analysis.

  • The vibration of the composite stiffened cylindrical shell with piezoelectric layers subjected to shock wave is presented in this paper. The differential equations which describe the nonlinear oscillation dynamic of the shell are solved by the Newton-Raphson iterative method in combination with the Newmark direct integration method. Numerical results are solved for the structures subjected to the effect of shock wave in MATLAB software. On the basis of the program, the effect of piezoelectric and stiffener on the nonlinear oscillation of the cylindrical composite shell are considered.

  • The dynamic response to variable magnitude moving distributed masses of simply supported non-uniform Bernoulli–Euler beam resting on Pasternak elastic foundation is investigated in this paper. The problem is governed by fourth order partial differential equation with variable and singular coefficients. The main objective of this work is to obtain closed form solution to this class of dynamical problem.

  • The study evaluated the translation quality of the Vietnamese version of the film “Rio”, which was translated and dubbed in the project of MegaStar Media Ltd. Company, Vietnam in April 2011. To reach its aim, the study used four methods including analysis and comparison, which were based on Newmark’s model. In addition, statistical and observational methods were also applied to examine the synchronisation of each utterance and its translated version.

  • This paper presents a numerical method for dynamic calculation of third order systems involving fractional operators. Using the Liouville-Rieman’s definition of fractional derivatives, a numerical algorithm is developed on base of the well-known Newmark integration method to calculate dynamic response of third order systems. Then, we apply this method to calculate linear vibrations of viscoelastic systems containing fractional derivatives.

  • This paper discusses the dynamic characteristics of an elastically supported Euler-Bernoulli beam subjected to an initially loaded compressive force and a moving point load. The eccentricity of the axial force is taken into consideration.
