In this paper, we present a new improvement of the third-order Newton-Krylov method with a quaternary convergence rate and prove the convergence of the iterative formula. In addition, the paper also presents an experimental result to demonstrate the convergence speed of the method.

The nonlinear kinematic wave model is developed from the Saint Venant system of equations, which includes a nonlinear kinematic wave program that solves the system of equations by Newton's iterative method and a linear kinematic wave program for calculations initial flow value. The developed model is tested with sample problems and compared with the simulation results by Mike 11 model on Tra Khuc river.

The vibration of the composite stiffened cylindrical shell with piezoelectric layers subjected to shock wave is presented in this paper. The differential equations which describe the nonlinear oscillation dynamic of the shell are solved by the Newton-Raphson iterative method in combination with the Newmark direct integration method. Numerical results are solved for the structures subjected to the effect of shock wave in MATLAB software. On the basis of the program, the effect of piezoelectric and stiffener on the nonlinear oscillation of the cylindrical composite shell are considered.

An Interior-point algorithm with a line-search globalization is proposed for solving the general nonlinear programming problem. At each iteration, the search direction is obtained as a resultant of two orthogonal vectors. They are obtained by solving two square linear systems. An upper-triangular linear system is solved to obtain the Lagrange multiplier vector. The three systems that must be solved each iteration are reduced systems obtained using the projected Hessian technique. This fits well for large-scale problems.

In this research, the isogeometric finite element method is used to discretise the displacement domain of strutures in the first step. The primal-dual algorithm based upon the von Mises yield criterion and a Newton-like iteration is used in the second step to solve optimization problem.

In this paper, we obtain fourth order iterative method for solving nonlinear equations by combining arithmetic mean Newton method, harmonic mean Newton method and midpoint Newton method uniquely. Also, some variant of Newton type methods based on inverse function have been developed. These methods are free from second order derivatives.

In this work, we propose a new alternative approximation based on the quasi-Newton approach for solving systems of nonlinear equations using the average of midpoint and Simpson’s quadrature. Our goal is to enhance the efficiency of the method (Broyden’s method) by reducing the number of iterations it takes to reach a solution.

In this paper we generalize an infeasible interior-point method for linear optimization to horizontal linear complementarity problem (HLCP). This algorithm starts from strictly feasible iterates on the central path of a perturbed problem that is produced by suitable perturbation in HLCP problem. Then, we use so-called feasibility steps that serves to generate strictly feasible iterates for the next perturbed problem.

Series.—Some hand calculations, as well as computer programs of certain types of mathematical problems, may be facilitated by the use of an appropriate series. For example, in some gear problems, the angle corresponding to a given or calculated involute function is found by using a series together with an iterative procedure such as the Newton-Raphson method described on page 33.
