  • The Anatolian newt, Neurergus strauchii, is an endemic Anatolian species. Until recently, N. strauchii was represented by three subspecies. It has been discussed within a recent phylogenetic study in which the subspecies N. s. barani is recommended to be evaluated as a cryptic but distinct species. To address this subject, we aimed to discuss the niche differentiation between N. barani and N. strauchii using geographical and bioclimatic aspects. All georeferenced data of N. barani and N. strauchii were used to estimate the potential distributions of these species in the Anatolian Peninsula.

  • The objective of this study was to perform a whole-genus comparative analysis of over 100 gastric versus EHS genomes in order to identify genetic determinants that distinguish these Helicobacter species and provide insights about their evolution/ adaptation to different hosts, colonization niches, and mechanisms of virulence.

  • Niche differentiation is a prominent hypothesis explaining the maintenance of tree species diversity in tropical forests (Connell 1978). It suggests that different species are best suited to different habitats in which they are completely dominant and more abundant than in less suitable habitats (Harms et al. 2001). In addition, distribution patterns of tropical trees are generally more clumped or aggregated than random (Condit et al. 2000). Furthermore, environmental heterogeneity (difference in soil, elevation, slope, etc.

  • Microenvironments called niches maintain resident stem cell populations by balancing self-renewal with differentiation, but the genetic regulation of this process is unclear. The niche of the Drosophila testis is well-characterized and genetically tractable, making it ideal for investigating the molecular regulation of stem cell biology.

  • Chapter 4 - Prototyping your idea. Once you’ve identified your opportunity, the next step is to devise a strategy to pursue that opportunity. While you’re probably familiar with the basic strategy categories from previous coursework - differentiation, low cost, niche - many would-be entrepreneurs fail to grasp the intricacies of devising and implementing their strategy.

  • The vascular niche is a site rich in blood vessels, whereas endothelial cells, pericytes, and smooth muscle cells create a microenvironment that recruits mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), which is important for stem cell mobilization, proliferation, and differentiation. In this study, CD146 + pericytes were purified and enriched from the human umbilical cord vein.

  • The hematopoietic microenvironment regulates self-renewal and differentiation of hematopoietic stem cells. Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) contribute to the niche and participate in supporting dendritic cell (DC) commitment in vitro and in vivo.

  • Inside The Minds To help a company achieve its visibility goals, we look at many factors. These include the unique aspects of their product or product portfolio, points of differentiation from the competition, or a unique method of producing a product. We examine corporate strategy, looking to see if the company was built using an interesting business model, or, better yet, a model that’s never been used before. Our job is to leverage the unique aspects of the company to establish the perception of leadership in a niche area, wherever possible.
