This study clearly showed the benefit of P availability in combination with Rhizobium on leaf area, leghaemoglobin content, nitrate reductase activities of leaves and nodules, fresh and dry weight of nodules and fresh weights of stem + leaves at vegetative and flowering stages. Yield components, pod number and seed number were significantly increased by P availability by fertilizer alone and in combination with Rhizobium or through Rhizobium +Microphos.

The effect of growth regulator on growth and flowering of seed guar cultivars viz., HG 365 and HG 563 was analysed under Mahanandi conditions. The highest nitrate reductase activity, crude protein and gum content was recorded by HG 365 cultivar whereas the growth regulators found maximum in nitrate reductase activity and crude protein was recorded by the application of CCC at 1500 ppm which was on par with CCC 1000 ppm.

Nineteen groundnut genotypes were screened for physiological characters, chlorophyll content and nitrate reductase activity at 30 DAS (pre-anthesis) and 60 DAS (post-anthesis) along with kernel yield during the Pre-summer. Leaf chlorophyll content and nitrate reductase activity plays a considerable role in plant metabolism.

Phosphate is the key macronutrient required for the growth of plants. The soluble forms of phosphorus when applied to soil are rendered insoluble by undergoing chemical fixation. The soil collected from organic farm, SKUAST- Jammu was investigated for screening the phosphate solubilizing bacteria. In the present study, soil samples were collected from rice rhizosphere of sixteen varieties grown in OFRC, SKUAST- Jammu. This study revealed the existence of Phosphate Solublizing bacteria in the rhizosphere soils of rice.

In the present investigation rice genotype HUR 105 was selected to see the effect of seed priming on the activity of antioxidant enzymes and changes of biochemicalsof rice under timely and late sown conditions. Priming of seeds has been done with distilled water (hydro), Mg(NO3)2 salt (halo), kinetin and salicylic acid (hormonal) and activities of SOD and nitrate reductase, ascorbate peroxidise proline and protein contents were studied at different study periods with respect to two sowing conditions, representing timely and late sowing of rice crop.

Lentil is one of the important legume crop widely grown in India. The availability of low phosphorous in soil is one the major concern for the production of legume crop in the country. Thus, the present study was aimed to evaluate the plant growth promoting efficiency of phosphate solubilizing Chryseobacterium sp. PSR 10 with different doses of inorganic fertilizers (N and P) on lentil growth and yield under field conditions. The phosphate solubilizing potential of this bacterial strain through In vitro tricalcium phosphate solubilization in NBRI-BPB broth medium was 210.43µgml-1 .

Water deficit and salt stresses are global issues related to survival of agricultural crops and sustainable food production. Drought stress occurs when the available water in soil is reduced and atmospheric condition cause continuous loss of water by transpiration and evaporation. The general complexity of drought is often aggravated under conditions of erratic and unpredictable rainfall and by the occurrence of high temperature, high levels of solar radiation and poor soil characteristics.

Drought stress affects various physiological and metabolic processes in rice (Oryza sativa L.) plant. Non-availability of high-yielding varieties suitable for cultivation under drought condition lead to sharp decline in rice yield. The current study was aimed to carry out to assess the impact of PPFM and plant growth promoters on mitigating drought stress effects in semi dry rice.

Water stress was imposed on four varieties of Indian mustard viz., PusaBahar, Varuna, Pusa Jai Kisan and PusaAgraniby withholding irrigation at 3 different stages of crop growth i.e., vegetative, reproductive and pod-filling stage. The maximum impact of water stress on total chlorophyll content was observed at pod filling stage. The total chlorophyll content decreased a maximum in cv. PusaAgrani and minimum in Pua Jai Kisan. Proline accumulation increased in all the test verities and maximum accumulation was observed at reproductive stage.
