Ebook "Endospore-forming soil bacteria" following chapters that describe the current classification of these organisms, that review methods for their detection and for studying their life cycles in soils, and that examine their dispersal, other chapters show that they are active and dynamic members of soil floras that interact widely with other soil inhabitants, with roles in nitrogen fixation, denitrification, and soil remediation.

In this study, we amended the loamy soil in a ginger farm using bamboo biochars combined with organic fertiliser. We used the original and treated bamboo biochars at low and high application rates to evaluate mechanisms involved in N dynamics of both soil and plant using δ15N and gas exchange measurement.

A field investigation was conducted at Instructional farm of Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kendrapara, Odisha during kharif and rabi seasons of 2013-14 and 2014-15 in ricegroundnut cropping system under irrigated medium land situation. The soil of the experimental site was sandy loam in texture with pH of 5.7, organic carbon of 0.52 % having available soil nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium of 390.9 kg/ha, 10.1 kg/ha and 190.1 kg/ha respectively.

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season 2015 in alluvial soil at farmer field, in village Loharapur, Varanasi, to study the soil microbial biomass, dynamics and selected enzyme activities as influenced by farm yard manure and inorganic fertilizer. The soil microbial biomass carbon; nitrogen and phosphorous was improved significantly with the different treatments. Highest soil biomass carbons, nitrogen, phosphorous were recorded with the combined application of inorganic nutrients and farm yard manure (T7) over the remaining other treatments.

A long-term field experiment was conducted to design and implement alternative production systems with increased resource use efficiency, productivity and to determine the effect of tillage systems and mineral fertilizers on soil organic carbon patterns. This experiment intended to evaluate the effects of these management strategies on soil structural formation and structural stabilization of a sandy loam soil. The shift from puddled - transplanted rice on the flat land to raised bed systems affects the productivity and resource use efficiency of the rice-wheat system.

Nitrogen management strategies developed so far are mainly based on soil tests targeted yield and generally N recommendations are made for large areas which certainly do not take into account the field to field and season to season variability. Nitrogen being the most dynamic nutrient, we have to develop real time N management strategies which are meant by applying the N doses to the crop as and when needed.

A field experiment was conducted at Agricultural College Farm, Bapatla, Andhra Pradesh on sandy upland soils during post-monsoon, 2018. The experiment consisted of four levels of nitrogen and four population densities laid out in randomized block design with factorial concept. Nutrient content significantly increased with increase in nitrogen levels and higher content of N, P, K, Zn and Fe were obtained with 90 kg N ha-1 which was significantly on par with 60 kg N ha-1 .

A study was conducted at Organic Farming Research Centre, SKUAST J in which focus was to analyze the impact of organic manures on soil nutrient availability and crop growth dynamics in legume based cropping system. In the experiment, it was found that from2016 to 2017, available nitrogen in soil depicted significant results as values followed a variable pattern. Change noted with highest to lowest value observed 285.8kg ha-1 to 252.9kg ha-1 . Available phosphorus was found to be significant as very positive change was observed compared to control.

This paper focuses on evaluating the nitrogen mineralization and NH4 + and NO3 - leaching from the root zone in cultivated soils of Giao Thuy district, Nam Dinh province using Synthetic accumulation (SIA) method. Main findings reveal that total N content in vegetable fields and rice-vegetable-rotational fields ranges from 17.68 – 113.68 kgN ha-1, and from 14.64 – 132.59 kgN ha-1, respectively.

An experiment was conducted at the Main Agricultural Research Station, University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad, Karnataka, India during 2014 to study the effect of horizontal constructed wetland treatment of domestic sewage effluent on its quality and effect of its irrigation on soil nitrogen dynamics both temporally and spatially. The analytical results revealed that there was improvement in the quality of sewage effluent after passing through the constructed wetland treatment system which was reflected by reduction in pH, EC, BOD, COD and TSS.

Endophytes are microorganisms mostly bacteria and fungi that lives partially or completely its life cycle inside living plant tissue without causing adverse negative symptoms. Endophytes play a major role in structuring shaping processes of plant such as colonization, competition, coexistence and soil nutrient dynamics. Some endophytes promote growth of their host plants by enhancing the host‟s ability to take up nitrogen and phosphorus.

Macro-fungi are the fungal species that produce fruiting bodies visible to naked eyes and occurs widely in the rainy season. The macro-fungi plays important role in nutrient dynamics, soil health, as pollution indicator, species mutualism and its interaction and even has its economic role in carbon cycling and the mobilization of nitrogen and phosphorous. Present investigation emphasizes on study of macro-fungi from Baramati area of Pune district of Maharashtra. During the study frequent field visits, listing of genera and their species, identification and photography has done.

Nitrogen in manure occurs mainly in organic forms (e.g., proteins) and as ammonium (NH4+). Some composted manures contain small amounts of nitrate. Ammonium and nitrate are plant-available forms of N, while organic N is not immediately plant-available. Before organic N can be taken up, however, it must first be converted to inorganic forms. This process, which is completed by soil microbes as a by-product of organic matter decomposition, is called mineralization. The mineralization rate is therefore the rate at which organic N is made plant available.

Sorption of the cations NH4+, Al3+, Fe2+, Mn2+, and Mg2+ in powdered zeolite and its mixture with soil was monitored. More than 90% of the observed cations were fixed in the zeolite in the first few minutes of the laboratory experiment, which is a very fast speed of sorption, and the ammonia cations reacted fastest.
