To identify the best source of nitrogen among organic and inorganic sources and their combinations for better growth, flowering behaviour and fruit yield of chilli cv. Bulet, an experiment was conducted in Gangetic Alluvial plain of West Bengal. Six organic manures in different combinations were applied along with Urea at three levels (25%, 50%, and 75). Result showed that plant height and number of branches per plant was found maximum with a combination of vermicompost and urea at 50%. Flowering was delayed with increase in inorganic nitrogen level (25, 50 and 75%) in the growing media.

A field experiment was carried out to study the effect of different methods and levels of zinc and boron application on growth and yield of rice under acid soils of hilly zone of Karnataka during Kharif season of 2017 at Sakaleshpura. The experiment consist of 14 treatments replicated thrice using RCBD. The results revealed that significantly higher growth and yield parameters such as plant height (108.8 cm), number of tillers per hill (20.6), number of panicles (103.5), grain (64.4q/ha) and straw (89.4q/ha) were recorded in treatment receiving foliar spray of zinc sulphate @ 0.

Investigation into the effect of fly ash with three organic manures viz., Farm yard manure (FYM), green leaf manu) and Humic acid (HA) and inorganic fertilizers on the yield and uptake of rice was studied. The test crop was rice variety (ADT 49) Field experiment was conducted during 2014-15 in Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tirur, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University. Fly ash generated from Mettur Thermal Power Station was selected for the study and examined for its physical and chemical properties. Analysis of fly ash revealed that it is neutral to alkaline (pH 8.1) in reaction.

Purple nonsulfur bacteria are a group of diverse biotechnological applications, particularly in producing functional food rich in unsaturated fatty acids. In this study, a purple nonsulfur bacterium strain HPB.6 was chosen based on its strong growth, high lipid production and synthesis of unsaturated fatty acid (omega 6, 7, 9). The studying on biological characteristics showed that strain HPB.6 comprises ovoid-rod shaped cells with diameter of 0.8 - 1.0 µm, none motile, Gram negative stained. The cells divide by binary fission and contain bacteriochlorophyll a (Bchl a).

Field experiment were conducted at the Student Instructional Farm of Narendra Deva University of Agriculture and Technology, Narendra Nagar, Faizabad (U.P.), India, to study the effect of integrated nitrogen management on soil properties and yield of wheat in salt affected soil. The result showed that maximum grain yield and available nitrogen were recorded in treatment receiving 1:1 ratio of urea + pressmud (T7) whereas, maximum build up in organic carbon in plot receiving 1:3 ratio of urea + FYM (T5).
